Tobias Reaper Posts: 1,799	You can add as many characters as you want. Just keep in mind that nobody gets in without a counterpart from the other company. Remember, the attraction to rivalries is finding out who would win. While it's fun to find interesting parallels and contrasts between any two characters, it's important that you try to make them evenly matched. For example: Akuma vs. Mr. Karate. This will work because they're easily ranked with the most powerful characters from each universe. Matches that are clearly lopsided like Dan vs. Ryo will not work. * In fact, let's save ourselves the trouble and omit Dan and Sean altogether, lol.* Note: The SF plot guide at Gamefaqs has a tier list you can use as a reference for SF characters. As Tiamat points out, they're just guesses, so some of them may appear to be bogus to you. You don't have to agree with all of them. Just be sure to back your disagreements with good reasoning when picking characters. I should say, though, that Saiki's Tier 7 - 9 (minus Dan) will be condensed into Tier 6 for the purposes of this thread. You can also pick characters whose "tiering" is still up in the air and match them with someone else. Despite the lack of comparative info with other characters, they are not barred from entering, as they also beg the question, "Who would win?". For example: Dee Jay vs. Joe Joe Higashi's tiering is easy. He's the worst of the three Lone Wolves, so if Terry's a Tier 2, that makes Joe a Tier 4. It's not known where Dee Jay ranks against other SF characters as his fights have never officially been recorded. But he's still a world kickboxing champion, and if his SFA3 story means anything, he can beat the crap out of Adon, who's said to be a Tier 5. So he deserves the benefit of the doubt and gets to be matched with Joe. Why does 3rd Strike receive so much praise? I was pretty sure Ken is just as strong as Ryu is but with less potential so if Ryu can match up against Kyo then I could just assume that the same would go for Ken and Iori. As for Abel, I kind of have to agree but since his story is not yet complete, we still don't know his full potential. As for K' and Alex, I just thought of them being rivals since they were supposed to replace their predecessors, Kyo for K' and Ryu for Alex. And for the Sagat vs. Ryo, it kind of reminds of the Tiger vs. Dragon type of rivalry. And for Q vs. Nameless, Q is a mysterious character just like Nameless that is why I thought up of that rivalry but I guess I should have made it into C. With Ash, it's assumed that he can fight Kyo and Iori to a standstill because he's their main target in the current story arc. I can't see him portrayed any weaker after he managed to steal Chizuru's and Iori's powers, because then what would the point be? And SNK seems to have this trend where each new "hero" throughout the timeline tends to match his predecessor, if not outmatch him. Terry's still ranked as one of the best, despite losing to Kyo in KOF '94-'97. Nameless isn't really a mystery character. SNK gave him a detailed bio; you can check it out on snk-wikia. I don't see any interesting comparisons to draw between him and Q. In theory, he can fight all the main characters too because he has better control over the Kusanagi flames than K' does, so I don't think Viper vs. Nameless would be a fair fight. There isn't an official tier list or anything to be found, but if you go to the Fan Fiction forum at SRK, there's an SNK story thread called Tales of Dark & Light. No one's posted in there for a while now, but some of the posters have provided a lot of good info. A couple of them actually made up a tier list of their own from years ago, and for the most part, they seem reasonable enough. Except for those "god-tiers" that are made exclusively for the main KOF characters. Kyo, Iori, and the Heavenly Kings were listed as uber-powerful, far above everyone else which I find is ridiculous. He has the DNA of both K' and Kyo and he also has a special glove that can turn into a drill and control his flame but Ash Crimson is also the guy who was able to easily take away Iori's powers while he is in Riot of Blood form. Tobias Reaper Posts: 1,799	Yeah, I think Nameless can be placed roughly on Ash's level, but there's no evidence to use in deciding which of the two is better since Nameless only appeared in KOF2002 Unlimited Match, and that game's officially just a dream match. And the manner in which Ash took Iori's powers doesn't actually say anything about his capabilities. You have to consider in KOF XI that Iori had just fought Shion, then Magaki, and then spent who knows how much time wailing on Kyo and Shingo. Just like in 2003 with Chizuru, Ash struck when he was weakened and exhausted. Why does 3rd Strike receive so much praise? That being said, I know that some characters (i.e.: Birdie) would get owned. Too bad for them.
