• Throws are too easy to land in Capcom's eyes and they plan to tweak some things to fix this. Ono wants jumps to have fewer startup frames.
This is the most worrying change. Throws already suck in SFIV seeing as they can be teched, do little damage and can easily be beaten by mashing jab. Against anyone who's mastered option select, it's virtually impossible to throw.
SFIV has one of the weakest throw games of any SF (I believe even Daigo, who usually doesn't say much has complained about this).
If they really are doing this then I hope they buff throw damage to ST levels or beyond. Heaven forbid people actually do something other than hold down+back in the game.
wtf is Ono thinking -_-
The jumping thing makes me happy though

The addition of the jumping comment confuses me. Last I checked, the startup frames for jumping were throw immune. My guess is that this relates to command throws and how the jump frames makes them easier to do.

Hopefully! Abel's crap is really annoying
But yes, hopefully it's for command throws

You guys are just pulling things out of your **** now. Most of the characters your mentioning were on one of the two polls Capcom released when they were making SF4. Only Dudley did better than Makoto. And Hugo was almost at the bottom of the poll he appeared on. As usual Scarecrow, your talking your personal opinion and trying to pass it off as the communities.
Makoto wasnt even on one of the official polls DEADDDDDDD

don't listen to those fools at SRK. Throws are not weak (maybe in comparison to sf2) they are mostly fine in sf4. Maybe the teching window should be a bit smaller but it's not bad. i'm also pretty sure you can throw someone even if they jab at the same time. maybe ono meant they're too easy to land due to some situations. for example I've been thrown while being on ryu's start up frames on srk. i've also thrown bison on his start up phyco crusher. There are some situations where throws don't make sense. Either way, as long as it remains mostly the same then it will be fine.

Yeah I have that grudge with the throws. I feel they can grab an throw you to easily in alot of situations. Even on attacks which i feel needs more priority.
I think popularity has had little to do with who has made the final cut. Gen and Rose made the cut but aren't more popular than other characters who didnt make the cut. SSF4's confirmed T Hawk and Dee Jay arent exactly burning up popularity lists either. Some of the comments made by the developers gave the impression that fans played a part in the character selection but at the end of the day, I think they just put in who they wanted. If popularity played a part then there would have been Third Strike characters and more Alpha characters in 4. Then we wouldnt be trying to figure out who gets left out in a group of characters as good and diverse as Makoto,Ibuki, Guy, Cody, Dudley and Adon.
That said
I just hope a couple of these guys make it.
