I don't know about that. Look at R. Mika and Maki. Heck, Ono even had Ryu with blue eyes in those early SFIV builds. Those characters are Japanese as well. I think that when it comes to Japanese characters, Hair colour or general features simply don't count. |

Sorry bored when I posted the last two posts I made. Besides that Karin would be a good addition even if she doesn't appear in super street fighter 4. I'll be happy regardless of what future Street Fitghter game she appears in. Just as long as she does come back then I have no problem. Although I would be very pleased if she makes it into the Super Street Fighter 4 roaster.
Like always, Karin for Super Street Fighter 4.
Karin for Super Street Fighter 4.
Capcom bring Karin back please. Avid member of the Karin Super Street Fighter 4 support group. ;) |

It's like that with most anime though. The majority of japanese anime characters don't look slightly japanese. |

I agree Retsu shouldn't be based off Makoto, who is a Shotokan Karate practicioner, but not because Retsu practices Shaolin Kung-Fu, because he doesn't, he practices Shorinji Kempo, which does have elements of Shaolin Kung-Fu, but still, it's not the same, so please get it right. Retsu should be based off of... Retsu! I mean, he has been in Street Fighter before, remember? Of course he'd need an update, that's obvious, but not to make him play like anyone other than himself. Just give him some moves that pay tribute to his real martial art. Personality-wise, Shorinji Kempo and its Zen Buddhism philosophy should have a strong influence in him, even though he is a renegade master who does go against the non-competition rule of the martial art and has actually been excommunicated by the Shoriniji Kempo school. Story-wise, he should be searching to reconnect with his martial art's teachings and to discover the reasons for his inner strife, so that he can put an end to it.
I don't really understand all these Street Fighter's subseries wars between fans. Personally, I'm just a fan a Street Fighter, regardless of the subseries. I have been a fan since Super Street Fighter II, which I still love even though I hardly ever play it now, I loved the Alpha series for all its new features and characters, and despite the lack of returning characters, SFIII was, for me, a great evolution for SF, and it's still the one I enjoy playing the most. Sure some characters are oddballs, but come on, that's almost a SF staple, to have a few weird yet interesting characters amidst some more conventional characters. I liked all the new designs, and even if I suck at playing with Twelve, I'm glad they made him. I don't feel the need to go around dissing characters just because I'm not good with them or I find their design freaky. So far, the character design that boggles me the most is Q, but I still welcome him to the SF series, and I enjoy the humor of having a playable character that once was, or at least resembles, a strange character from an old background. I am yet to find one character that I can actually say is bad or shouldn't have made it to the game, not even Joe or Mike from the original SF, because at that time they just had to be there.
All this talk about characters who play like others or are rip-offs or whatever is mostly nonsense to me. Some good points are made, but there seems to be a tendency to forget that, no matter how many moves some characters inherit from others (which is natural), they're still themselves. Yang is Yang, he isn't any other character and there's no substitute for him. That's just an example to illustrate my point. I think in making those comparisons you're just taking away from each character and its own importance to the series. You don't have to like a character, but you have to accept that, if it has been playable in a Street Fighter game that belongs to the Street Fighter story, it is a Street Fighter. That isn't the case for Yun in SFA3 for example, because by the time of SFA3, Yun would be too young to actualy fit in the story. He was just a bonus for fans, or something. That being said, I wouldn't really mind seeing whatever characters appear in SFIV as long as they' find a way to fit them in, updated, upgraded, whatever. Basically, as long as it's not complete nonsense. If I don't like a character, I can choose not to play with it (that has never happened before though, I have always wanted to give them all a chance; with some I could get good with, with others I couldn't, that's just the way it is). I'm not a fan of Makoto, for example, but I have nothing against her being in the game if she's requested by enough fans to justify it. On the other hand, considering SFIV happens before SFIII, shouldn't the characters' ages be considered? Maybe not, but I just think it would lead to an increase in the already notorious plot holes in SF. I'm also not a fan of plot holes. I don't like Vega because he's a bullfighter, but then again he's a villain so it fits his wickedness, and I don't like Guile because he's an army puppet. That had nothing to do with anything, but I just felt like saying it.
What I really want is Guy back to Street Fighter. And the more discussion there is about Poison, the more I want her to be playable in it as well. Furthermore, I think it's great that she's a transsexual. She's original, she's controversial, she's charismatic, and by now, the way I see it, she's a Capcom classic.
Oh, and someone said I should get cancer for my opinions (which just happen to be those of a true SF fan who was trying to be as objective and unbiased as possible)... isn't that nice. |

Judo was created during the late 19th century. Try jujutsu instead: |
