Elena and Retsu for SSFIV!!!!!

To the assertion that most people "don't play Elena," that is totally not measurable by any standard unless you poll the amount of hours of play each person in the world has spent on a certain character.  I, personally, use everyone in the roster, but, of course, Ryu is my main.  And if we're going by who's played the most by the fans, then it's really supportable to create more shoto clones.  That's who everyone plays anyways.  Shotos.  I remember someone posting a character select screen filled with "Ken profiles" because frankly, who else do people play besides Ken and Ryu...okay Sagat...lol.  Also, hey...I don't know about you guys, but I never played Abel and Viper before SFIV...Why?  Because they're new and I never got my hands on them.  Same with people who think because Elena is "not as played by the masses," that she's not worthy.  Designers of SFIV have done something for the fans that has never been done before, at least for me...I can actually beat the hardest level with every single character in the game.  Because of the balancing work and mechanics of the specifice title.  Therefore, whatever you experienced in SFIII or alpha...throw that out a bit.  In the medium of SFIV, the designers can create a whole new gameplay style for each character that will fit.  All we can talk about really is about the "potential" and in my opinion and many others as well, Elena provides the highest potential of creating a unique gaming experience than any other character in SF in that she goes by a different formula while others...arguably...are recycled versions of other "favorite" formulas.  Elena is not.  What I and others can tell you is that Elena has been in the top sections of support threads (top five in the SFIII support thread for Capcom's SFIV forum).  The reasoning is that she has a unique gameplay that can be innovative for the "slower pace" SSFIV title.  Her speed and unorthrodox movements puts a more "mindful" dimension to the game, which places tactics and strategy over "winning patterns."  Fighting her could also make players more skillful in split second reaction and decision making rather than relying on anticipation, which leads to move spamming, which a lot of people hate...Elena is fresh in design and flexible in play (no karate gi, unique fighting style).  Nothing about her can even be compared to any other character's movesets or design.  She's that unique...

About Retsu being like Makoto...yeah, Retsu should have his own style, but...it is stated in many sources that Retsu is a "precursor" to the Makoto design, whether or not they have the same martial art or not.  But I'd like him to have something different in his arsenal...definitely.  And if they do make him "unique," then all the more reason to put him in as soon as possible.

Now...forgive me guys...gonna think like a marketing guy for a while...now if we did this...

SSFIV:  Dudley, Ibuki, Elena = Dudley for Western market, Ibuki for Eastern Market

...then

HSFIV:  Alex, Makoto, Hugo = Alex for Western Market, Makoto for Eastern Market

(elena and hugo as overall fan favorites)

...then this would give Capcom a position to market both SSFIV and HSFIV effectively to "all sectors" of their fanbase, thus making them profitable not only next year but onward, at least when it comes to SFIII fans.  They can do this with FF and SFA characters as well...I mean, if you put all the characters you like right now...then Capcom can't sell any more games until like...10 years when SFV comes out.  This way, people will feel the updates are worth it (equal, balanced), and Capcom and make money...everyone's happy.

You put Ibuki and Makoto together...it's like overkill in the Eastern market...arguably...but definitely overkill toward fans of cute Japanese girls...in my opinion...

Therefore...

New:  Juri, Hakan

SFII:  T-Hawk, Deejay

SFIII:  Dudley, Ibuki, Elena

SFI:  Adon, Retsu

FF:  Guy

I agree too. No one's saying they shouldn't have both... it's just that the main outfit should make sense.

Once again, I'd like to underline that Kyo Kusanagi (like all KoF characters) doesn't age at all, but even he managed to get out of high school, eventually.

I wouldn't. I wouldn't even place them in the same category.

You know, the thing that most jeopardizes the chance of having the RS series blending with SF is that people think it's a game about schoolgirls. I love that game, but it's not because of hot teachers (Kyoko) or tiny, shy students (Hinata). It's obvious that people who love the concept of the world warriors would say no to an invasion of japanese schoolgirls (which, btw, are very dangerous, as seen in FF:SW).

First of all, if RS characters were to be placed in the SF world (an alternate version, probably, so they wouldn't really be tied to their RS storyline or dates), most or all the characters would be out of school by now (they should still be around the same age Sakura is).

Then, we should avoid "non fighter" characters (little schoolgirls attacking with backpacks and violins, hot cheerleaders, hot teachers, etc...) and shotoclones (Batsu, also in a stereotypical schoolboy uniform).

And lastly, only characters that have something else to them, other than their RS storyline and rivalries, should be considered.

My choices for RS would be:

1) Akira (she's the gal in the black, spiked leather pants and jacket next to Kyoko in that picture); she's a total street thug and a biker (like Maki), even though she went to school when she was a teen. She's one rough female character, something really rare in SF. Her alternate is the same, but with a black motorbike helmet with a white skull painted on it.

2/3/4) Roberto, Natsu, Shoma; the soccer guy (goalkeeper, attacks with his hands too), the volleyball girl (hitter... she's in that picture too) and the baseball guy (designated hitter... uses a baseball bat); they have awesome sport-inspired moves and they're overall very cool (and not necessarily school related). They will cover an uncovered role. Also, Natsu is one big, tall, muscular girl (another rare thing in SF).

5) Kyosuke; ok, he's in a stereotypical schoolboy uniform (tough a classy, white one) but, unlike Batsu, there's much more about his personality and traits than being a schoolboy (also, in SF he may be out of school already, and have a different white outfit as his first one). Oh, and he was in CvS2, blending very well with the SF (and KoF) characters (unlike Last Blade, Samurai Shodown or Darkstalkers ones), at the point that many people even thought he was a SF character all along.

6) Hayato; he's a gym instructor, he wears a track suit and carries a wooden kendo sword; once again, he can stand out as a street fighter, and actually being interested in the SF Tournament... despite being a school teacher. He is also a wild, loud kind of character with a lot of personality.

elena sux , you pervs, nobody plays/played her in sf3

Yeah, well, that's actually not true. She's in the top 8 for SFIV new characters in many polls, so I'd say a lot of people play Elena.

Also, when will trolls learn? You know that "accusing other people of being pervs" thing? It always backfires. Other people like her fighting style, and you're the one who can't play with her. That means that the only thing you can think about her is that looking at her is something to be ashamed of. Are you ashamed of yourself? Did your mommy tell you that you're a perv and you should feel guilty for looking at a girl in a bikini? Do you hate women? You know what? Don't answer. We couldn't care less.

I agree Retsu shouldn't be based off Makoto, who is a Shotokan Karate practicioner, but not because Retsu practices Shaolin Kung-Fu, because he doesn't, he practices Shorinji Kempo, which does have elements of Shaolin Kung-Fu, but still, it's not the same, so please get it right.

I just want to take a minute to let you know that Shorinji Kempo is literally Japanese for "Shaolin Temple Kung-fu" and then ask you if you still want to make that statement.

Retsu and Makoto are both deciples of karate, just like Ken,Ryu and Akuma are deciples of the shotokan art.

Whats the point about that argument?

I guess the fact that Retsu isn't a disciple of karate.  That would be the point of argument.

Aside from Adon and Guy, everyone else from Alpha doesn't appeal to me.  I guess I'd have to pick Karin if we are getting three from Alpha.

Another point, I want to see Sakura in a grown-up outfit (Karin too, if she was in).

Everyone wants to see Sakura in a grown up outfit. She should be in her late 20s by now. For all those schoolgirl lovers, they should have it as some alt outfit or something.

Gunna master Ibuki in Third Strike before SSFIV comes in April!

I dont think thats gonna happen too soon. Since shes a popular character from japan. I Think that they would want her to stay like she is.

See you said no school fighters, but you picked the sports people? That seems like faulty logic. But Hayato, Kyosuke, and Akira would be awesome additions I would also add Kurow instead of the Gorin High team. The reason I prefer Kyosuke is because he could cannon. After his brother dies he ran away, and they never saw him again. Kurow also dissapears. He could be trying to track down Kurow, who could be considered his brother's killer. Honestly, those two would unique additions both personality and gameplay wise. Kyosuke's projectile so unique(One of the first things that attracted me to him was the fact I had never seen a projectile like that before) and Kurow may be only fighting game character to pull off the Freddy Krueger style. They could be after project BLEACE. Kurow has already tried brainwashing, previously made famous in Capcom by Dictator on Cammy.

I know that Japan actually paid to fix Palestine(or the palestinian part of isreal). They fixed the streets and like helped with building. They even built tiny cities for the poor. Then the Isrealie military destroyed everything, claiming they were looking for terrorists or something. But there was no attack on them and they found nothing, everyone thought they did it on purpose. No clue if they did, I wouldn't say that they purposely did it. Japan doesn't really like the way they treat the palestinians. Of course I'm drawing on my last World History class, so this may not be entirely accurate.

Yeah, most of the world doesn't like the way the Palestinians are treated, even a lot of people in Israel don't like it either, but the Israel government has a powerful ally. Still, the individual people of Israel are not neccessarily responsible for everything the government does. Oddly, Israel's actions are supported more in the USA than in Israel itself. I don't think all Japanese people would hate all people from Israel just for the actions of their government. I hope not, anyway.
