You speak vehemently about meeting popular demand, so why are you against another SFIV update? That's how SSFIV came to be, and it's aimed primarily for hardcore players. If enough fans want it, it'll benefit Capcom to make it. I don't get this rationale with some people that fighting games can't have big updates when franchises like DDR and Guitar Hero get milked two or three times a year and still make a profit. Namco seems to be doing just fine, having released multiple updates for Tekken in a span of four years, with little differences aside from a few new characters per update. I could understand if SF was still 2D, and production costs put such a huge damper on the amount of content added that they'd have to charge full price for each title. But as Capcom has shown with SSFIV, they're finally capable of delivering a lot more than your money's worth to justify more updates. The latest iterations of SFII and Alpha were actually successful, and they pale in comparison to what we're getting now. And like those two games, SSFIV is NOT the same as its predecessor. They didn't just rebalance the cast, throw in ten new characters and call it a day. The characters will have two ultras, and if the rumors are 100% accurate, the focus attack will be enhanced (not altered). They're even adding a new lobbying system and a spectator mode, among other online features. It seems that whenever a new game comes out, people don't keep up with the announcements as they come, and they formulate these preconceived ideas from past marketing conditions of how the game will suck or rip everyone off. They can't see things differently until the product gets in their damned hands. I still remember all the stupid things everyone said about SFIV when it was revealed, like how it would end up like the EX series because it was 3D, or that they were just doing a 3D remake of ST because the SFII cast made up more than half of the roster, despite the advent of focus attacks. Forums were cluttered with posters talking prematurely on how disappointing it was and that they wouldn't buy it. The game quickly became a success regardless. Last I checked, about 2.5 million copies sold, and that's not including the numbers for the PC version. I don't expect much of a decline relative to SSFIV's current sales projection. Time and hands-on experience will quell a lot of the baseless complaining, particularly over the game being sold as a hard copy and not DLC. And as SSFIV makes its returns, approval for a third game will increase dramatically. That's not to say Capcom should keep milking SFIV if there's no longer a point to. We just want them to push SFIV to its limit, and I don't believe they'd have gotten there yet with SSFIV. Assuming the rumored characters are in, there are still quite a few popular characters from SFIII and Alpha that people are dying to see in 3D, and playing under the same engine we've just grown accustomed to. SFIV IS essentially fan-service, so it's better to bring them back in a third (and thus final) update instead of putting them off for SFV, where drastic changes to the roster and gameplay are expected. If Capcom can do this, it will satisfy everyone to no end and keep us occupied until the next completely new SF title is released. Yes, they can always make a new Darkstalkers or Rival Schools game under the same engine, and that's fine. But neither had a following in the US that was nearly as big as SF's, so unless there's enough mainstream support, I don't see Capcom putting a Hyper SFIV behind them as an investment.
Only scrubs think 3rd Strike is the best Street Fighter of all time.

You are right Tobias Reaper, I agree with you on that! I know that I am going to love SSF4 but their are still characters that I want to play as in SF4 (Hugo, Elena, Oro, Karin, ect) plus I know after SSF4 gets released theirs going to be a need for other minor changes so Yes to Hyper Street Fighter 4! And for the fans its time to start voting on the cast for HSF4 (based off the rumored cast for SSF4) so Ono will know next time who we want!!!! |

By the way they recently mentioned that they'll probably add things to SSFIV as DLC (not characters, but stages and all other little things) I'll wait for other favorite characters in SFV

If Hyper Street Fighter 4 had your favorite character in the game, or favorite background, or feature, or something that draws you to get it, are you telling me that you wouldn't buy it?
