That's what the redesigns are for.  Yeah, Lee and Joe are SUPER boring character, but so was Birdie before.  I think Alpha jazzed him up nicely.  And the fact that they'd actually HAVE personalities for the first time ever.

Lee is a super generic kung fu guy, but you can take what little we know of him and make something geniunely interesting out out of it.

For example, Gen is Yun and Yang's grandfather.  And Lee is Yun and Yang's "relative", possibly their Uncle.  That would make Gen his father.  So what happened to his brother, Yun and Yang's father?  Gen is a world renowned assassin.  Yun and Yang are empowered by their Triad crime syndicate as guardians of their neighborhood.  Why is that?  What if their father used to be someone important in the Triad.  What if both him and Lee were important members of the Triad?  And what if Lee killed his brother in order to gain even more power?  Now Lee is this powerful Triad boss.  Gen hates him for killing his other son, but is unwilling to kill his own son.  While Yun and Yang are actively seeking him out for vengeance.

Change his appearance up from being a kind of 70s Kung Fu movie villain to more of a 90s Kung Fu movie villain and viola!


For Joe, well, you don't really need a complex plot for Joe, you just need to add some character.  Like make him into your stereotypical fighting Irishman.  Of course, he's from America, not Ireland.  So he'd basically be a Boston street fighter.  Someone like Packie in GTA4 personalitywise.

Update his appearance, make him look like Brad Pitt's character in Snatch, call it a day.

There may be the possibility that they might make a few DLCs specific for characters.  Though this thought is on par with not possible.  It could be that Capcom may ask the fans for some favorites then pick those who got the most votes or would logically fit into the story.  Not saying this to put people down but this has possibley been said countless times before.  I am sure if the fans take a huge interest in the project Capcom would surprise us with a secert character.  Who knows, they may use the DLC character as a promotional item when you pre order the game though this could be highly speculated.

I'm in total agreement with this.  I'll be disappointed if Makoto doesn't make the cut (owing to time restrictions).  I'll be absolutely livid if Retsu by some miracle made the cut in the place of Makoto.  I figure that Makoto, Adon or Cody are on the bubble right now, but I hope they all make it.  Heck; I'd rather see Hakan cut before any of the returning seven.
