Fuerte is weird in that his storyline is pretty much just a rehash of Dee Jays.  They both have these days jobs and they fight to somehow obtain things for that job they shouldn't really be getting out of fights.

I don't know how Dee Jay collects beats by winning fights, and I don't know how Fuerte collects recipes by winning fights, but they do it...

I would probably like El Fuerte better if he

1. Didn't have the cooking skills of a 16yo Japanese girl in one of those love triangle manga/anime.

2. They didn't make said cooking skills the centerpiece of his storyline.

I totally agree.

3. He didn't have moves named after food.

An ignorant and stereotyped move, by the JP devs. But if you hate that, you should hate the 75% of the SF characters.

4. He didn't shout the names of his moves out during his matches.

Usually it's annoying, but widely accepted in fighting games and other media. But he's a luchador, which is similar to a wrestler. And, just like Shawn Michaels pointed out, wrestling is all about exaggerated and flashy attitudes (involving shouting and waving hands a lot).

5. He played a bit more like a Street Fighter character.

I couldn't disagree more.

First of all... what do you mean by "like a SF character?" He has Ultras, Supers, EXs, FA, jab, strong, fierce and 3 kicks too. That makes him a SF and a SFIV character, period.

If you mean that you'd like to see something less original, some character with a moveset that doesn't stand out like Elf's (or Viper's)... well, you're asking for the game to be worse.

Variety is good! Keep creating original characters, Capcom!

Agree on all counts.

That is probably the biggest problem I have with El Fuerte. With a Luchador you have many possiblities and they take the Dee Jay way out with it. He could have had a better design and a better story. I mean it's stereotypical and funny and completely a Capcom thing, but seriously I feel they didn't put all their effort into the new characters after C. Viper. And I'm a fan of Abel but even there i think they could have done better.

What I mean about "Play like a Street Fighter character" is that a lot of his moves involes him rushing head long into incoming attacks or running backwards so you see the moves coming a mile away. I must admit that I havent played against a lot of Fuerte players but of the ones I have played they rarely used the Habenero dashes. but I guess that could be because I use Honda and you dont want to run into Honda.  Most characters strategies requires controling distance. Fuerte not very good up close. He's not very good at a distance. I'm all for originality but it has to be effective originality.  I think he should have had a half circle throw command. or a air qcf or qcb for quick surprise attacks.

Common sense is the least common of all senses.

I hate this video below because it shows how people will stop at nothing to

make sence of everything, I personally believe that John Chang ( DJ ) did light that news paper.

The show DOES NOT explain how he did the chopstick trough the tables tho' haha

I would have liked the same thing for Fuerte as well. BigMex had a very good blog about him detailing the history of Lucha Libre and how Capcom could have taken better advantage of this, especially with back-story and design.

Lucha madness!

This was soo sick, CAPCOM should definatly get on those animators a$$es about making him smoother and stronger !

Yep, that's how people are. I've been through many situation where people try to explain how something happened, and many times their explaination fails to cover the finer details, it's not thorough or well explained. Also I have experienced the effects of Chi pesonally. You feel an energy push at you put you don't see it. I've also seen it used to freeze a person in an awkward position. Seeing someone stuck in a position with a massive grin on their face and unable to blink their eyes while they are about to announce they won a game of Mahjong is not something you don't see everyday. I knew the person it happened to since we were babies, let's just say he's not a very good actor so I'd know if he was faking it.

What up John!! I agree with yout and its a shame that Fuerte had to go on the goofy route, but I don't think that something which will change but it would be sweet if they did. They should throw the chef act out, and perhaps give him an alt that even becomes similar to one of the guys in the video.

i like the fact that elf is an offbeat n comedic character but 1 demensional. it seems he cant keep his mind off food. my suggestion give him his own cooking show or  have a crew document his journey around the world. in terms of gameplay he has a tough time against a lot of characters. my opponents strategy is 2 wait 4 me 2 get close then dp (shotos) or turtle. u have 2 be defensive with him n also bait n force whiffs. i agree that he needs a command throw or a short range attack option. another storyline could be where he realizes his culinary career would hinder his wrestling n fights 1 last time. elfs story is good but its all in how u write it. or wrestling could b the focus in someway. as 4 being a serious character... he wasnt intended 2 b serious. the irony is that he couldnt boil an egg. stereotyped?no. i've seen luchadors who acted on novelas wit their masks on.  they take the mask thing VERY SERIOUS!!

A luchador never removes his mask!! Maybe they can add another luchador as a rival that can be more serious in the vein of Ryu/Ken relationship.
