www.gamereactor.se/nyheter/19583/GRTV%3A... 4:32, Ono says that there won't be an arcade release for SSFIV and that it will be a console exclusive. I understand that much of the world does not have arcades anymore, but in places such as Japan, Korea, and California, arcades are still doing well. And the cabinets seem to have been doing well in those places. So my question is, why can't there also be an arcade release? Is it because it's too hard to update the cabinets or is it just not profitable for Capcom to create an arcade release? Or is it something else to only decide on a console exclusive? Another thought I had for just only having a console exclusive is that the arcade scenes will die down much faster without one as well as Japan's competitive scene.

Say good bye to Daigo, Mago, Nuki, Nemo or any of your favorite japanese player showing how SF4 is done and played with against the best players in the world because the SF arcade scene will die without SSF4 release. No more weekly videos on youtube or nico. They will not play on the console version sitting all bored in their tiny room with internet lag.
R.I.P SF arcade scene. BlazBlue & Tekken 6 have won the war ='( |

what i dont get is how developers cant create a way to make a cabinet with changable decals and a reprogrammer cpu... So all they would have to do is just install the new version and change logos... and they could save a great deal of money and still release new versions of arcade games. |

The Taito Type X2, which SF4 is running on, is basically a standard WinXP PC, and was designed to be upgradable. |

This is a huge mistake. I spent a year in Japan and played in a weekly freeplay every thursday with a great group of people. Some of my best memories in Japan came from these all night sessions, or traveling to Taito Station Big Box in Takadanobaba to watch the Grand Masters play. Street Fighter was not just a game but its own little community. I made friends at every arcade I frequented, played in weekly tournaments, and generally built up an interest in the game that I would never have had elsewhere.
No Arcade release = a big slap in the face to one of the most enjoyable communities I've ever considered myself a part of. |

Sure they said what they said but I still wouldn't rule it out for the future. If you REALLY want to complain, go to the Japan website and say what you said there.

This is a bad move by Capcom and unfair advantage to those who play the console versions...EVO is going to be mess up...I guess players like Diago have to buy the console version up his game..UGH, this is a bad move because Capcom traditionally release the updates via arcades and then consoles, ouch....Talk about revitalizing the Arcade scene Capcom... |

Yeah I do hope they reconsider and put out an arcade release. It's just that the way Ono said it, it seemed he was kind of being absolute about not producing it for arcades. |

I think the game is still pretty popular in Japan without even the console characters and its been out ther for over a year. I'm sure that people will just keep doing what they're doing. It probably has a lot to do with costs, if enough arcade owners are willing to buy the game, Capcom will release it. |
