why does creat a character have to be balanced? Is it impossible to have a player create available for offline mode only? |

Well it would just make things look messy. You would just keep seeing all this really stupid looking characters using everyone else's moves combined into one and we already got a character like that. (Seth) But you can see the point can't you? |

We have already been down that road. Brings back bad memories of ACE from EX3. I would vote NO! on that idea. |

Don't we all love Street Fighter for the awesome characters and their moves. I would rather capcom spend time on developing more of their own unique characters (i.e. Juri). They do such a good job I don't feel the need to make my own. But if they must, please let it be offline only. |

I have given deep thought in how to do a create-a-character feature right in Street Fighter, but I think its too soon and such a mode would require alot of tweaking and testing over a long period of time before such a feature would be ready to be implemented. The way these are put into fighting games so far, they just feel tacked on and gimmicky(not to say I don't like messing around with them). Firstly, the game's plot must be structured in a way that your custom character will not feeling out of place in the storyline and that they treated equally with the main characters (such as your character gets an actual intro, individualized rival fight and ending). This can be achieved by adding a small survey that will determine various aspects of your character from personality, ideals and alignment, which it will then match up your character to one of the multiple intro/ending sets and match your character wither the best suited rival for them. Secondly, the most important part of this feature would have to be the movelists. The "copy & paste" set-up of Soul Calibur IV would not work here; characters must have unique individuality in fighting styles. I feel that also the original characters must also have exclusive Super's and Ultra's which the custom's cannot use to keep an incentive to play them. The system should also stray away from the feature in Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, where you can give the character any move you want without restrictions. Instead, I have a whole idea of how the mechanics of this create-a-character should be done: ** A variety of base movesets will be available to cover the standard attacks of your character. These can be from characters in the game, characters thay are not, or even new fighting styles altogether. ** A "Checks & Balances" system must be implemented in order to avoid broken character from being made. This system would in theory alter you characters strength, speed, and health based upon what Special's, Super's, and Ultra's are selected for the character. In what way your stats would be affected with what moves would be determined by extensive tweaking and testing to make sure the version of this system released in a retail game will ensure custom characters will not disrupt the character balancing. ** The available Special's will be comprised of preexisting character moves like the Hadouken, Sonic Boom, Spinning Heel, and Tornado Throw. Super's and Ultra's however will be brand-new or heavily altered moves in order to make sure the original characters can remain unique and not completely emulatable. ** Most Special's, Super's, and Ultra's will be available with most base movelists, but some moves will be incompatible with particular base movelists. For example, a character using Elena's fighting style would be able to perform a Flash Kick or Spinning Bird Kick but not permitted to perform a Shoryuken or Psycho Crusher. Thirdly, your character's visual and vocal customization should be deep but within reason. We don't want to see a Street Fighter get an "M" rating solely based upon the level of customization or raunchy from exactly what is allowed to be altered in size. Finally, I think a option to save other character's custom characters should be implemented in case if you really like what somebody did with their character. The saved character should not be allowed to be altered and somewhere it should give credit to the original creator (if chosen to by the creator). Anyone who read all of this, thank you. I put alot of time into thinking of how this create-a-character mode can be done right and would love to hear any feedback on what you think or if you have any good idea's to improve upon my set-up of this feature.

B. Stop double posting. Every time you double-post, a moderator dies. Stop killing the mods. It's not cool.

I'd rather have a color edit mode or alt costumes for DLC than this stupid idea.
Only scrubs think 3rd Strike is the best Street Fighter of all time.

The reason the copy and paste setup was done was because of balance. SCIV did it this way because of complaints that the custom characters from SCIII were imbalanced (either too weak or too strong). Done properly, a copy and paste system will allow for customs to actually be tournament legal.
I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game!
