Originally posted thin in the "Advice" thread but decided that this would be a good exercise for all of us. List your five biggest faults/failings as an SFIV player (in no particular order). So without furhter ado, the 5 faults of the D3v. 1. Repetitive - I do love my favorite BnBs and will use them over an over, to my detriment. It's not Sirlin level obsession but I do admit that I find his style attractive.
I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game!

1. Comboless - I don't bother learning big complicated combos because I feel like I'll just screw them up in a real match so I probably miss out on some free damage in favor of a one-two (or even a one) 2. Jumpy - I'm getting better at this but I can jump too much, especially when going for an empty jump spd or ultra. 3. Execution - Not always what it should be. 4. Aggressive - I sometimes chase when I should wait. 5. Choosey - I lean towards moves/tactics I "like to do" instead of always the ones that work best. |

Faults I have include:- 1. I get board with characters quick... not board but I like playing a lot of different characters. 2. Focus... because of the above i find it hard to focus on one character resulting in me being a jack of all trades and a master of none. 3. I jump in far too much, I really need to work on my ground game. 4. Bnb combo's... I need to learn them to the point where it comes naturally. 5. Ultra setups...online, I really need to be able to do these all the time ;)
Great thread d3v

1. Not adaptable when it comes to differences of controllers/ TV lag/ etc. Though I can use a stick or play in the arcade, I'm only at my best on a PS3 controller. And PS3 controller holds me back with certain characters. So in some ways I feel trapped between them. And when I do play a stick or in the arcade I feel I'm not at my best there either not only because of lack of experience on it but also because I prefer american stick setup. 2. I like my opponent to jump. Somewhere in the back of my head I'm always expecting and/or waiting for my opponent to jump. And when they don't it really puts me out of my comfort zone. Except maybe for Ryu where I've gotten used to it. 3. I like to use a lot of characters which can make me rusty with my mains. 4. I've been working on my grab cancelling, especially online. This used to be a weakness but it is quickly becoming a strength. 5. Umm... I like to play other games sometimes and I don't go into training and do combos 100s of times in a row like JWong so I can get rusty? |

You guys already mentioned my biggest issues...soo
1. Repetitive - I do love my favorite paterns and will use them over and over, to my detriment. 2. Jumpy - I tend to jump waaay to much to move. Bad habit from Alpha 3. Bad execution - I make Sabin look like Daigo. 4. Bnb combo's... I need to learn them to the point where it comes naturally. 5. Cross ups- I've never had so much problems with them before but I suck at avoiding X-up's in IV
You have a lot to learn before you can beat me...try again kiddo LOLZ

1. I get anxious and charge in recklessly. 2. Not very good at teching throws unless they really telegraph it to me. 3. I depend on crossup mixups to much. I can really get shutdown if someone can block crossups and tech kara throws consistently. 4. Mistime anti-air srks a lot. I usually do them to early and wiff. 5. Lack a solid knowledge of matchups with lesser used characters. Characters like dhalsim and honda can give me trouble.

My weaknesses are:
1. I main Cammy. 2. I rely waaaayyy too much on EX Hooligan throw. This move works great against noobs but the moment I run into somebody who actually knows what they're doing I usually end up eating an Ultra for trying it.
3. Focus Attack Dash Cancel - I have a really really hard time doing combos that involve this. I'm hoping that it's due to the fact that I'm using a normal 360 controller on my pc. I'm getting a stick soon so we'll see if this helps me.
4. Landing Cammy's Ultra.... I simply can't do this against good players.... mostly because of problem #3. Cannon Spike -> FADC back -> Ultra is pretty much impossible for me to do no matter how much I practice and EX Canon Strike -> Ultra is almost useless as you have to hit so low with it to combo into it that's you're safer off trying something else if it hits. I do get the Ultra in against the occasional mistake fireball but the opponent really has to make a big mistake for me to land it.
5. Did I mention that I main Cammy? |
