The only real overpowered character to nerf is Sagat, other top tiers just need some single moves adjustment(Ryu,Rufus,Boxer all got unfair way to combo the ultra). But after fix that moves, they're still A LOT better than the actuals low tiers... so nerf or not,low tiers will still need a buff

-Nobody can complain about improve a weak low tier character to bring them to the mid/mid-high tier, but many can complain about nerf the top tiers

-for the evolution of the moveset(add new moves and open new strategy) is more  easy buff than nerf

-add new moves and/or make better low tiers can encourage people use them and make more various the online experience(that actually is Ken,Ken,Ken,Sagat,Ken,Ken,Ken,Ken,Ryu,Ken)

-the balance wil not suffer  for some low tiers becoming mid tiers, rather it will probably gain from this

-is a sequel,i hope to see new things also for characters that yet are in SF4

I totally agree. What I was trying to say was that you can't buff every character in the game to Sagat's level. This would never happen, but theoretically if it were to it would result in huge powercreeps, and big imbalance. In theory, if you were to nerf every character to Dan's level, it would make for a much more balanced game, yet make the result very boring.

The idea for online competitive games is to use both sparingly, so as not to have too much of the problem either way.

Regarding the Kens online it was really just a fad, people that were new to the game saw that Ken could beat them easily, having a lack of understanding of the game. They eventually turned to Ryu, who is too powerful for his stature - the trademark character of the series that is easist to play. As people learn his playstyle, they also learn there's no reason to play as anyone else.

2- or you may say some characters can combo special move into Ultra! True .. i m sure your character have a cool combo too for a big damage that you may dont even know yet!

1-No,i agree too

I just think that add new things is good in a sequel and that improve a little bit the low tiers can bring the balance to 96% :D

2- I've the contrary problem, lol. I don't use Ryu as main even if is my favourite because imho is too easy(read unfair) put in his ultra in combo :D

And as Dictator user i crush relatively easy Sagat spammer noobs(imho is an easy match up for Bison),i just think  that improving low tiers = more variety online

Yes,but if you watch the changes that i've writed nobody of them will become an high tier, they will just raise to mid tier world :D

And yes nerf some chars single things and generally nerf Sagat (:D ) is a thing to do too.

I just say that

Buff low tiers --> we had more mid tiers that had good chance to beat other mid and even high tier chars

Nerf high tiers to mid --> more balanced but still low tiers are often beated up by all

Right buff and right nerf ---> epic win :D

I never say that they don't must do some nerf, rather i will return to use Ryu as main if they nerf his thousand things into ultra :D

Dude all you do is complain, I'm surprised you have the willpower to turn the game on with all the complaining you do about it.  This person sucks, this game is unbalanced, it's too hard for casuals!  You must be F tier at SF4 but S+++++ tier at trolling.

I'm more in favor of buffs for those who need it. It worked for wonder another company (SNK with KOF98 UM). Let them take their time if they have to. Plus, from experience, Capcom usually goes overboard when nerfing, e.g. CvS1->CvS2 King/Nakoruru, SF2 Champ->SF Turbo Dictator and Claw, MvC1->MvC2 Chun, and basically MSH/XSF->MSF everybody.

Sf is all about shotos (Ryu, Ken and Akuma) i think 90% SF fans main a shoto ... Akuma in SF4 is so **** up! his life runs out so fast, he get stun faster than Sakura, his Ultra is almost useless against pros and you still see so many Akumas online!

What i m trying to say (with my broken english lol) is that: even if they nerf down shotos or buff up low tiers you wont see any difference AT ALL! SF is all about Ryu (for good SF boys) Ken (cocky SF boys) and Akuma (for the i-love-evil SF boys)

8 out of 10 online matches i get on daily basis are against shotos! I dont think it will be any diff. in SSF4 .. not that i mind beating up shotos .. keep them coming! i m almost 30.000 gps thanks to them :P

I made it to my Country's Final (Top 10 songs)

If only balancing a game were so simple.  As it stands, SFIV is pretty darned balanced anyhow.  It's not perfect, but no fighting game will ever be perfect unless you give every character the same set of options (thus eliminating the very point of having multiple characters).  Buffing lower tiers ultimately takes some upper tier characters down a few notches simply by giving some characters that had very few options a few new ways to deal with the top characters.  It's not about bringing one character up to another character's level; it's about fixing a few of the shortcomings unique to some of the lower tier characters.  Nerfing a character often does more harm than good, creating unwanted or unexpected flaws in their game.  Sean going from top tier in 2nd Impact to dirt in 3rd Strike is a great example of a character being stripped of everything.  Heck, 3rd Strike isn't exactly the paragon of balance either, is it?

I'm not a big fan of these threads as the majority of us don't play at a high enough level to really make an informed decision.  Listening to a lot of players here would probably do more harm than good when it comes to specific buffs/nerfs.  Still, if given the choice of adding options to low tiered characters or stripping options from high tiered characters I would rather see low tiers boosted.  Many nerfed characters lose any personality and become incredibly one-dimensional.  Perfect balance should never be at the expense of diverse gameplay.

i would only nerf Sagat Tiger Shots damage (i find unfair being able to shoot so many proyectiles so fast and at the same time to deal a lot of damage with each of them), and maybe his ultra damage a 10%.

with Ryu, just EX Tatsu damage a bit (150 damage instead 200), and thats all.

the buffs... too much to list here :P

I think buffing the lower tier characters would be better.  Give them the same combo potential (generally same frame link, combo into ultas, etc).

Leave the top tier characters alone for the most part.

If we nerf everyone to the same level, the game would become more boring.
