Would you want a SF1 HD Remake?

Would you want it done similar to SFII HD Remix? Overwrite the graphics and maybe add a few extra things here and there (like supers and extra moves.) Or would you rather have it in the 3-D/ 2.5-D engine used for SFIV?

I can see both working. I think SF1 has lots of untapped potential (despite the fact that it pretty much established this epic fighting series we call Street Fighter.) I loved the bonus rounds and the character designs. I can imagine how they'd look in redrawn 2-D or with 3-D models with the SFIV style.

As much as I'd love a remake the game would need more than updated graphics. All the characters would need more fleshed out moves, the hit detection is atrocious, frame rate is unaccepable by todays standards. The only characters that haven't been seen since are Geki, Lee and Retsu. Mike most likely became Balrog, Eagle was in CVS2, Joe is unofficially Cody,  Gen reappeared in A2 and is now in SFIV, Birdie got the redesign in A2, Adon was redesigned in A2.
I would only consider buying a remake of SFI if Capcom did all the above plus make all the characters playable and put it on a GGPO network like HDR.

A Turbografx port of the original arcade game called "Fighting Street" just became available in the Wii shop for 800 points.

I think the SF4 graphics with younger and I guess (more anime looking) characters would be cool like in the SF1 artwork. Maybe color it less saturated and have a faded look, like when you see fog in the morning. Reminds you of a dream like this is taking place in the past. I dont mean make it look cloudy, just tone down the colors to give the game a different feel.

SF1 with Supers how would that be? Also it gives them a chance to revisit the history and develope the past of some characters.

Street Fighter I has been avail for some time, it was on Capcom Classics Volume 2 for PS2 and Xbox. It may have been released on the GC as well, I don't know, so if it's just avail now on Wii, I guess better late than never.

a remake sounds cool but I guess thats kinda what the alpha games were for the only people they left out were Joe, Mike,(probably became M. Bison/Balrog) Geki, Lee, and Retsu. The latter 3 characters are the only ones Id be interested in playing as maybe Geki and Vega have a past and Lee is probably related to at least one of the chinese characters maybe the Lee brothers. So maybe it can be a non canonical game in which those 3 characters are highlighted and their pasts and motivations are really fleshed out and if any connections to future fighters exists then they would be fully fleshed out.

Example Retsu fights through tournament to gauge Ryu's progress as a martial artist and possibly see if the satsui no hado surfaces and plans to report back to Gouken. His last match could be against Ryu and he just fights and forfeits the match then watches Ryu continue on.

Lee fights to prove Kung Fu is superior martial art against all others even assassin's fist(ansatsuken). He fights up to Gen and loses but not without picking up a few techniques during the battle. He then returns to Hong Kong where he begins training his grandsons Yun and Yang adding his own twist on a couple moves he picked up from Gen. His grandsons have a natural talent for fighting and Lee retires fully focusing on developing the two boys. He believes they will exceed his limitations and satisfy his dream one day of proving Kung Fu the best.

Joe fights up to Birdie and loses realizing that he has more work to do he decides to take a vacation first to Jamaica where he meets a dreaded kick boxer by the name of DeeJay who he teaches the rolling sobat

Geki was sent by his dying ninja clan to kill Gen in retaliation for him  murdering Geki's arrogant son for a rival clan. Geki failed to kill Gen but did damage him to the point he needed to drop out of the tournament.Unknown to Geki he was struck by a blow that would kill him after 7 days.  After that Geki dropped into the shadows never to be seen or heard from again. Later Geki's trademark claw showed up on the doorstep of his son's old friend a noble from Spain.

If a game was done like this Id probably go out and get it; moves and super arts for characters I never played as potential expanded storyline just dont rehash alpha and make the artwork animeish with fighting more on par with SF2 and 3 instead of just redoing the old system in SF1 also specials would have to do more damage than traditionally but less than SF1. All that give Ryu and Ken separate storylines change their kicks slightly to reflect their different styles(SF2 AM)then you have a game that is legit.

What do you guys think?

I forgot to add that Dan Hibiki could appear in a remake as well since he was in the shotokan school around the same time as Ryu and Ken after being thrown out by Gouken he decides to train on his own in order to meet Sagat at the world warrior tournament. His character will be more serious the way he appeared in alpha 1 just concerned with revenge instead of being silly but his moves will still be as weak and sloppy as ever. He will fight up to Retsu and be defeated

Retsu" Hibiki-san I cannot allow you to proceed. the thought of revenge has clouded your judgement and you have lost your way youve come nowhere close to finishing your training and if you go on to face him(Sagat) you will perish. Spar with me show me your technique if you defeat me I will step aside.

Dan"outta my way old man! You and Gouken dont understand he killed my father he took him away from me and you would deny me my vengeance you refuse to train me?! I'll show you I'll show all of you the power I possess father!!!!!

Yesterday I was playing Street Fighter 1 and it came to my mind: Why didn't Capcom made a SF1 remake with Street Fighter Alpha sprites? Almost all the characters were created (with the exception of Joe, Retsu, Geki and Lee. We all know that Mike is Balrog LOL), and it would had being a really simple project with half of the cast already made. If you want a true SF1 experience, take the Super Bar out, create the update of the stages and all set.

Maybe some day Capcom will consider remaking this game, even in its simples form...

Mike is a separate character from Balrog even thought he looks like him, fights like him, and has more or less the same backstory to my knowledge.

No man, a Street Fighter One update would have to emphasize simplicity. Standard attacks would have to "feel awesome" doing and you'd need a special bar to restrict spamming moves like the Hadouken (which should still eat 1/3 of your enemies health), but the special bar should be quicker to fill unlike other Street Fighter titles. Rounds in Street Fighter usually go extremely fast so its update should also reflect this. Character select is mandatory also.
