Exactly. The hidden fighter should always be broken and not allowed for tournament play. Otherwise it feels pointless. If I have to get three perfect wins in a row, six super finishers, and any other hard to do conditions the guy/girl I win out of this effort should be broken as can be, a slaughtering powerhouse against practically everyone in arcade mode and the guy you might have to flip a coin for, or say no to when playing with friends.

Seriously, I play through singler-player whenever I want to see rival scenes. If there is more or multiple for each character than I'm more than hooked. Things like that keep me entertained just as much as fighting online.

For any game having unlockables is a good way to keep players coming back to the game, as long as the unlockable items are good and not too hard or tedious to get.

On the flipside, why waste development time and money on a hidden, unplayable boss, when it could go to another playable fighter instead.
