I hope there's not already a thread on this exact topic. But I was wondering what you all think about unlockables within SSFIV. They are good reason to keep playing a game and can help keep it new and fresh. They have already announced that ALL the characters in the game will be unlocked at the start, so what would you like to see as a goal to try to unlock in the game (if anything at all). I personally would like to see a better reason to play through the arcade mode that will refrain from being meticulous or dull. I'd also like to see new titles and icons but I would like to see a more entertaining way to unlock them than the boring challenge mode from SFIV. Maybe, with bonus stages being confirmed now, they could have something unlockable from getting certain scores or doing certain things within the mini games. Some more ideas I had: -Alternate outfits (better than having to pay for them) -Titles & Icons -Soundtracks (Character specific themes) -X Box avatar rewards (I think that's what the new things are called) [Such as Ryu's headband or Deejay's MAXIMUM pants for your avatar] So go ahead: Give your ideas :D. unless this thread 'already exists' and gets closed :[ |

Hm, the only thing I wouldn't care about unlocking are Titles, achievements, icons, modes, maybe stages and the like. Having to unlock anything gameplay-wise is useless and not fun.

typical unlocks seem likely such as -gallery art, -gallery movies (openings and endings): I'd like to see the rival matches also go into the gallery, plus a pause feature for them would be nice. -a secret character. Can't have everyone unlocked right at the start, at the very least for arcade mode you should have to beat the boss once with anyone before being able to use him, and a secret fighter like Akuma or Gouken.

Only if they're not meant to be used competitively (i.e. broken from the start). Unlocking characters for tournaments is a pain.
I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game!

I wouldn't be surprised to see the bonus stages have some kind of achievements that are unlocked once completing the levels. If team battle is in too, I could see them doing with that as well. No more unlocking characters. I didn't have a hard time doing it, I just think the process was tedious and boring.

Stages and background music have to be there from the start. As for the characters, I think that people aren't getting what "secret character" really means. We already know that we can use the whole "official" roster from the start, in SSFIV. What some of us want is some additional, secret (secret as in hidden) character. It couldn't be more than 1 or 2, so it would not be "boring and tedious" like unlocking the full roster in SFIV. I'd want them, too. Secret characters, which are not the ones we already know about from SFIV (Akuma and Gouken, both valid in a Tournament). And since they wouldn't be "normal characters", like Rose or Cammy, they should be very hard to find.I'm not sure about the "boss" character (which I guess is still Seth). Finishing the game with each character should grant you his/her alternate costume. If the game had a story mode, you should be able to unlock it by finishing the arcade, and then you could unlock the alt costume by finishing the story. Also, lots of cinematics and art shots. I couldn't care less about trophies, titles, icons, achievements and such... |

IDK, but I'm a sucker for those little pop ups alerting you you've acomplished something... even though you weren't even going for it... something like in COD where you're just running around busting some skulld then all of a sudden you complete Knife Veteran or Marathon or some crazy in game challenge.

I'm all for unlockables as motivation to keep playing... ...as long as they are unlocked via Player VS Player Versus. Otherwise it's just taking time away from what I really wanna do (versus) to play arcade or time attack or survival or something. |
