Like i don't get it. Yea of course in the first month of the game sells were not great. But ever since the anniversary collection 3rd strike is on top of sells. Even though sells don't make the game. But seriously why do you guy hate it. It's the best SF game to date. It kicks Alpha and the originals a** any day all day. I want your opions.

Because it's not Marvel. It's not exactly a button masher...

Seriously, though, I think it's just that SF3 has a polarizing effect on gamers. Those who get it (like myself) love it. Those who don't get it, turn their nose up at it...and usually prefer Marvel.

Some people hate it because of it's parrying system.
If you master parry, then you can beat alot of people.
And they learn to love it when they master parry.

Ok i get it. Most of the fans here either don't have it or they have it and just plain suck at it. Seriously is that a reason to hate a game? Just because it's more realstic and harder gameplay.

When a game is based on one technique(one added later in that game's life) it has the effect of the purists going "That's NOT the game I came to love"

That alone is a big factor in one SFIII isn't really liked, specially when the game's fanbase LARGELY is centered around the original(SFII).

Not to say that the game's bad.

wont be long can i see you baby?
wont be long can i see you?
wont be long can i see you baby?
and i won't be long

wont be long can i see you baby?
wont be long can i see?
wont be long can i see you baby?
and i won't be long, be long, be long, be long, be looong. (and i won't be long be long be long be long be long)

Saying that 3s is the better sf is a personal opinion. All of the Alpha 3 characters are interesting to play with to justify one of the reasons I don't care much for it. For 3s, aside from Ryu, Alex and Makato were the only ones worth playing with. I say mainly that sf3 has good looking graphics that beat other previous sf games and not much else.

um let me guess... you probably got your @ss handed to you one to many times on sf3 with the other characters, right?  i'm so tired of that argument.  third strike really is the perfection of alpha and sf2.  the parry system is just an evolution of the alpha counter system that forces you to increase your timing, speed, and accuracy.  yes we have our favorites but the most popular of those favorites have been included in the game.  its B.S. like this that spawned a 4th sf game with only a hand full of new characters, the entire sf2 world warrior roaster and almost no sf3 characters!   just because cheesy gamers can't deal with twelve, remy, dudley, and the others.  or they're scared of a new parry system!  ridiculous!

It's pretty much like MegaGear X pointed out: the SFIII series pretty much alienated itself from the overall SF theme by abandoning almost all of the original cast of SF warriors everyone came to know and love. And by discarding the traditional aesthtics of SFII in favor of a more hardcore gameplay system that turned many faithful SF gamers in another direction. Unlike the SFA series, which shares some of the same points of criticism, the SFIII series became it's own type fighter in many SF gamers eyes. The SFA series preserved the memorable SFII warriors and provided SF games with more engaging gameplay features, which is why it was the highlight of the post SFII era. If Capcom would've spent mor time focusing on these aspects of the game, instead of focusing to heavily on graphical capabilities, the SFIII series could have very well became the next sensation sense SFII.

Ugh. Sorry about that double post.

Incorrect. They didn't interest me. I've won a little more times in sf3 than I've lost. New characters aren't a problem, as long as I'm intrigued by them, which only two have.

i'm so tired of that argument.  third strike really is the perfection of alpha and sf2.

Personal belief. Neither is the perfection of the other. It's about which sf series the person can tolerate and enjoy the most.

the parry system is just an evolution of the alpha counter system that forces you to increase your timing, restrictions, speed, and accuracy.  yes we have our favorites but the most popular of those favorites have been included in the game.  its B.S. like this that spawned a 4th sf game with only a hand full of new characters, the entire sf2 world warrior roaster and almost no sf3 characters!   just because cheesy gamers can't deal with twelve, remy, dudley, and the others.  or they're scared of a new parry system!  ridiculous!

Do cry, really. No, I'm not scared of the new parry system and can't deal with those characters? Read above. I actually welcomed something new back when I first played the game and gotten decent at parrying. What turned me away from it is in the sf3 section on page 3 of the "likes and dislike about parrying thread", since I don't see the point in repeating myself again.

You act as if sf4 is the end of sf in general. I'm willing to bet that sf5 will take place after sf3, adding sf3 characters.

yes, wonderful points all around. Third strike is the BEST street fighter period. In my personal experience those who did not like the game felt that way because they were not any good at it.  and I do hope sf 4 has some sf 3 characters in it and sf 5 is the sequel to sf 3.
