Can I get a source confirmation on this: SF3 used Mo-Cap

Obviously not in the typical sense. I remember being surprised by this since it was a 2-D game. My guess is they may have filmed some of the Capcom stunt actors and then draw over that or just used the footage as reference.

I can't remember where I heard it from, but I think it was one of the early SF4 interviews. Its a long shot but can anyone give me a confirmation source for this?

I cannot but I definately understand what you are saying. the level of detail on the characters would at least require a reference of some kind to make such fluid(and for the most part anatomically correct) animation.

The animation in their moves are very fluid you're right and while they are off the wall, the positioning of the arms and legs feels somewhat natural.

I remember it was either in an Ono interview or in the SF15th anniversary artbook. I will check the artbook. But I definitely remember being surprised that they used mo-cap for a 2-D game that way.

They used it for Elena no doubt.

Technically, it's not mo-cap but a form of rotoscoping, which is drawing an animated cel over a live action clip.

I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game!

Thank you for the corrections once again Dev ;)

They used the term in the article so that's what I was going off of. Either way, rotoscoping isnt what would have come to mind when describing it for creating this thread.

I checked the artbook, not in there. No links of confirmation yet?

Elena's animations really do make sense. She was probably the first character to come to mind when they mentinoed that because her animations are very fluid and a lot of her moves I have seen people do before.

D3V sure is good about correcting people. He's the farthest from annoying and the closest to know all about video games. You should write a book D3V.
