How much easier is it to play SF with the joystick / arcade pads?

Ive never competed in any SF tournaments, even the local ones just for fun. I want to one day though.

I notice it feels easier to EX things (2x Punch buttons) with the arcade-joystick set up, however the D-Pad of a video game controller feels more natural for me when it comes to the motions.

I think the next SF thing I purchase is an arcade style joystick set up so that I can actually play at the tournaments. The joystick feels weird instead of the D Pad, but hey you gotta get used to it some time or another.

I personally feel like the SFIV Fight Pad was the best controller ever made for Street Fighter. Again, it's just my opinion, but I feel this way as I've always preffered regular game controllers rather than an arcade stick for home consoles, yet I've always felt too stiff with the regular controller. Upon getting a Gouki Fight Pad and using it for the first time, I easily fell in love. Smile

It depends on your preference. The need to adjust to a stick isn't necessary but since it's for a purpose of requirement, it's understandable.

There's more potential for you to be better with the stick. You might be used to the pad and therefore be better with it. However, if you're used to the stick you will be playing better than if you use the pad.

I say get the stick. There is definetely an adjustment period but you will probably play better in the long run.
