Bad idea. WIth FAs, SFIV doesn't need parrying.

Why does 3rd Strike receive so much praise? The answer is simple:

but you cant focus cancel thru an EX hadouken... or focus cancel thru an attack while in mid-air... still think its a bad idea?

No, because a serious player will accept those limitations and adapt, and it's stupid to make FA's any better than they are. EX fireballs were meant to cancel out the ability for focus armor to absorb single hit moves. And allowing it to work in any form in mid-air defeats the purpose of anti-airs. On top of that, FA's build ultra meter while negating damage for the player. It's ridiculous enough how many times people gain ultras in a round already.

Furthermore, how is it realistic to ask for parrying at this point? If you want every character to have the same options at no cost, just play 3S.

FA's were designed so that you couldn't just sit at full screen and absorb fireballs.

Also, parries would make the game even more defensive than it is, since any offense can now be shut down by parry, shoryu, FADC, Ultra.

Arcades only die if we let them.

Really? I thought parrying would make it more offensive since there is pretty much only one range you can fight at, right against each other. Don't get me wrong, I don't think its a great idea to add parrying to SSF4. SF3 was an entirely different way to play street fighter, and that was fine but we don't need it all the time.

well im still waiting on capcom to get third strike on psn with netcode.  pls hurry i cant wait forever.  MVC2 is too infinite comboee for me.   Parries or faster focuzes would be really nice i mean if your good enough to focus cancel two times in quick succession that would be nice: if you miss you should get punished.  its not such a bad idea.

Just adding parries would simply give players another defensive tool as it will not address the main reasons why SFIV is defensive (easy DP reversal, nerfed throws, autocorrect, wonky jumping, etc.). Please remember that a game that relies heavily on zoning/space control is not necessarily a defensive game (see ST).
