Arcade stick or controller?

Personally, I use the controller if the D-Pad is nice. I have a lot of trouble doing certain motions on a stick. Maybe with more practice I'd be better with the stick, but I'm very comfortable with controllers. Everything I want to do comes out just fine.

I'm a street fighter noob, but even I noticed a huge difference in execution when I grabbed a stick.  It is no miracle cure, but the moves seem to flow much more easily.  A lot of these moves were made with a stick in mind.  I know the Xbox controller is quite poor when it comes to fighters like this, its about $50 for a Hori ex2, on top of this with a little tweaking you can get the Xbox version of the Hori ex2 to work on your PC.  Seems like a decent investment.

I would say arcade stick aswell, I've only just started learning it after playing on keyboard for majority of my gaming life. I really dont have a problem with the d-pad on the xbox pad either, I can do dragon punches much more consistantly on that than on my EX2 (on both sides of the screen too lol!)

dunno... I always perfered control pads, but the xbox controller is naff, but I found the ps2/ps3  controller even worse, wish my old snes control pad was compatiable.

But if capcomn release a control pad specially designed for Sf2 then I'll definatly buy it

If and if you are equally good with a stick as you are with a pad you will be at a advatage with a stick.

If you are worse with a stick or on a pad your at a disadvatage with the device you are worse on.

for accuracy, execution and speed...  definitely a stick! kara cancels and what not are possible for the controller but you must have a callous build up on those puppies.

kick it old school in the arcades not the SNES. lol

Yup, stick all the way. I might even get a second one now that my girlfriend is getting into it also.

Controller here

I'm one of those rare GREAT controller players out there, if you've faced me you know I'm not bragging.

I've never understood why on Earth people prefer a........stick

Anyway as long as you're winning it really doesn't matter

I love playing with arcade sticks, but I am better with a controller.
