It's a very good read. Amazing what it took just to get this game out!

Sounds to me like David Sirlin deserves all the credit and a few corporate suits deserve to get punched in the face. |

I have already voiced how I feel about what Sirlin said in the other thread. I think he sounds very up himself, and I doubt the credibility of what he claims (as a games programmer I cant believe that he learned Assembly code(HARD STUFF) and did it all himself) Even if it is true, what kind of guy goes off an takes all the credit and throws his team mates to the dogs. Dosnt sound like the kind of guy Id like to work with anyway. I finished that game alot of times now, there were alot more credits than David Sirlin! |

I've read this article before, sad how badly he got pushed around for trying to bring quality. =/ Props to him for doing all he did.

This guy is full of crap, I doubt he could print out "Hello World". I'd never work on a team with an idiot like him. |

Nevermind that Sirlin isn't trying to make it sound like he was the only one responsible for making the game, either; he's only talking about one particular aspect of the development. http://www.sirlin.net/blog/2008/12/4/more-street-fighter-hd-remix-reviews-and-response-to-the-pre.html |

dale: Sirlin is a really smart person. He graduated from MIT, which is a pretty nice credential. I wouldn't put it past him to figure it out. I know of a lot of non programmers in the industry that end up picking up some programming skills here and there through constant exposure. Impressive programming skills? more than likely not, but maybe just good enough to do tiny things here and there.
I think the problem with the perception of Sirlin is sometimes, is that he's just mis-understood. He's a really nice person IRL. |
