I've ready a lot of reviews for the game, and while I liked most they all seemed, I dunno, rushed. This is the most honest one I've read yet, or at least the one that I agree with most. I've never posted here, but I just wanted to know if y'all agree with the sentiment in this one.
I for one agree that the balancing is way, way off and sometimes really frustrated me. I dont know why they made it that way, but matches are over before they begin!! Anyhoo, here is the review and I hope you like it as much as I did.
b) Dumb poster. You are probably the reviewer, so that explains it.
c) Laughable review. Some quotes:
Counteracting Zangief's aggressively powerful Spinning Pile Driver by lessening its damage seems appropriate on the surface, but strengthening less powerful characters is a bit much. This effort to rebalance previously unbalanced characters has only resulted in newly unbalanced characters. That Cammy should be as or more powerful than T. Hawk is laughable and seems to miss the essence of what Street Fighter truly is. You could rebalance a game of chess to better appeal to the masses, but that would only leave you with checkers...
Summary: Balance is bad, I like that they nerfed the SPD (which they didn't).
Another effect of this tampering comes with the absurd hit/damage ratios, which have never been set higher and threaten to ruin any long-term appeal the game may have. Nearly every move seems to shave massive health from your life bar, with single throws and holds (Blanka's bite, Dhalsim's noogie) taking off one-fourth to one-half instantly.
Summary: I have no idea of the damage ratios the original game had and I'm complaining about SFHD damage ratios as if they were higher.
Smaller, faster characters seem to have gained considerable advantages over their larger counterparts, and with so many smaller jabs and kicks effectively cancelling each other out, I've never seen quicker matches or more Double KOs in my nearly twenty years of playing the game. Any noble attempts to broaden the game's appeal past its rabid fanbase is negated by this frustrating addition, and I suspect all but the most dedicated players will throw their arms (and controllers) up in disappointment.
Summary: I say that I've played this game for nearly 20 years, but it's obvious that I haven't. Not only because of my ignorance of the game, but because the game is not even 15 years old.
tzz is dead on. The reviewer has aboslutely no clue about SFII.
I'd guess they went online expecting to win because they could beat the computer on the SNES, and got a little pouty when they realized how bad they really were.

1. SPD was not nerfed. It's the same as it was in ST. This guy has probably never heard of counter hits.
2. What the hell, Cammy and T.Hawk are both bottom tier in ssf2t. Why he's comparing them I have no idea. Diddums, this guy probably wants realism. Out with the trash...
3. Damage ratios are the same as ST, and were higher in original SF2. Also in that game you could keep your opponent in a dizzy loop (broken).
4. Street Fighter 2 will only be 20 years old in 2011, so regardless of whether he's talking about the very original or ST, he's talking out his ass.
Sorry I quoted you. I couldn't be bothered following the link so i just went off what you had quoted.
It's probably not the PO's fault, he's probably just new to the game and this is the first review he stumbled upon, influencing him hugely.
Way to blow it, if you know this little about the game you probably should just quit your job as a reviewer, having clearly made no effort to find out about it. I think it's safe to say that this reviewer has been demoted to the rank of 'IGN', one to ask for Mario in SFIV.

So you mean to say all the tournament players and Evo vets who helped make the games balance what it is are wrong?
I support a new (or remixed) Darkstalkers game! http://is.gd/2iSgG

One-fourth to one-half instantly?? That statement alone reeks of amateurish experience. Is he just sitting there letting himself get bludgeoned without trying to get out of it? Sorry, but I gotta call foul on this supposed messiah of video game reviewers. Please stick to Dead or Alive and leave the real fighting games to the pros. K?
I think its a good review. I read that stirlin said he wasnt biased when he was balancing the character and that the other street fighter players who contributed wernt biased. But I find this very hard to believe, sirlin said his character of choice was honda, and look at all the improvments honda has, I didnt even realise that certain honda jumping moves are imprevious to anti air attacks...things like this and block safes are just rediculas
I like the game, but theres just too many things wrong with it.

Alright, M. I'm going to challenge you. Here is a webpage with links to all the changes for Remixed mode. I want you to read through them and then write which changes you truly feel are not good and why. I want to see if you can really back up your claim that there are "too many things wrong with it."
