why make something free when you know you will get money out of it? it's business. i'm sure it costs money to keep xbox live running anyways. and there really aren't that many advertisements, it's not like you see ads everytime you're about to join a game. plus, i'd rather be paying for xbox live than playing on PSN. $50 a year isn't too much compared to others like WOW where you pay $15 a month. PS. why would you compare hotmail to xbox live?

your paying a yearly fee for an infrastructure and a pretty stable one at that. Free isn't always better. Look at the Wii or PS3. |

wtf are you on about? I said hotmail is a free service that microsoft use to get revenue through advetising, why cant they do same for xbox live. I didnt say anything about playing games on hotmail so why the f**k are you saying that? Sorry for being harsh but I never said anything about playing games on hotmail so why state that? You're just trying to be clever but its not working. |

You can't play HD Remix on hotmail....that would be the first reason to pay for xbox live....and all the other games...just about every other single title on the xbox. Also email is important, whereas gaming is just leisure.
I didnt even mention games, your compaison was based on your assumption that I persume that hotmail and xbox are simular thing. I never gave a reason why..I simply said if hotmail is free when they're alternatives that u can pay for...then why not xbox live. Why are you saying you cant play games on hotmail...everybody already knows this |

and i'm not trying to be clever. hotmail and xbox live are two completely different things. why compare the pricing in the first place? if you can compare the pricing, you should also be able to compare the functionalities like gaming and email (like comparing a car to a car). just because there are ads on xbox live doesn't make it similar to windows live. there are adertisements on TV too, but why pay for cable or satelite? all very different things.

The way I see it and correct me if im wrong, paying for xbl keeps the matchmaking servers up so game companies don't have to host their own servers. This is why you can still play all the older xbox live titles online since microsoft handles the multiplayer stuff. If you want free, then go get PSN. Where the game's online experience life is all up to the game company if they are willing to spend their own money hosting the servers.
edit: this is horribly off-topic guys |
