Yeah, yeah I know. Its last installment was in '99. But hear me out. Since Alpha 3 was released in the arcades, there's been 9 new cast members (from upper and double upper/max), a ton of plot holes, and a ton of potential additions to an already great game. With all the buzz surrounding IV, another great entry in the Street Fighter series would already have hype behind it.

Why alpha and not another series?

Alpha represents all of the original story. From Ryu's victory during Street Fighter 1 and the murder of his master, to M. Bison's first fall and the loss of Charlie. It represents the highest point in Street Fighter history, and all of its main cast. Both Alpha 2 Gold and Alpha 3 MAX are the pinnacle of 2D fighting games (of course, my opinion)

The characters in alpha have had tons of additions in the Capcom Vs SNK series. New moves and super combos that could easily be added to a new alpha (since they use the same sprites). Even the Marvel vs series added more animation frames that could be used (dan's premium sign anyone?).

The ISMs can easily be upgraded/adjusted, especially V-ISM which gained the ability to use two level 1 supers (and lost the stupid body doubles) and was very well balanced in Capcom Fighting Evolution. X-Ism movesets for the original 17 warriors should be exactly like they were in super turbo (where the hell is chun-li's kikoken in X-ism? why is the tenshokyaku a reversal only?). Or just give each character a complete moveset that doesn't change based on the -ISM chosen (like capcom vs snk 2).

Shadow (the brainwashed Charlie) would be an awesome (and easy) addition to the game. Maybe Mike Haggar from final fight? Throw in some Hugo, people love that guy. I'd love to see Alex (my favorite SF character), but who knows if he'd fit. For some simple sprite work, make decapre (doll with mask and claw), some hybrid vega/cammy action would kick ***. Edit yun and BAM! you got yang. Feel like drawing new characters? Geki, Retsu, Lee, Joe and Mike could use a new home.

Alpha 4 would be amazing, an already impressive cast gets a boost. Alpha 3 was very well balanced (outside of V-ISM shenanigans) and had three interesting fighting styles. Those styles and those characters already have the improvements from other entries that could easily be implemented into a sequel, make it happen.

I agree. Let them finish SF4. Then make SFalpha4 (there are many characters to be updated in alpha style: Geki, Retsu, Lee, Eagle, Joe (instead of a jailed Cody), Ibuki, Q, Yan/Yung, and (why not?) nanase, hokuto, kairi for SFex

The Alpha series is finished, but Capcom should defenitly do another spin off series like Alpha after SF4.
