Well it was strongly implied that he only beat Sagat, his teacher, in SFA because he was still hung up over his SF1 and SFA story assist fights with Ryu and not focused on the fight infront of him. Adon is reportedly just not that good (see SF1 standings) as even distracted Sagat managed to hospitilize Adon in SFA with his Super. This could be why Sagat resolves the rematch with his Ultra. I still like the over achieving apprentice and wanted to see him take on Sakura, or maybe Ryu, and continue to 'look' for Akuma.
He wouldn't stand a chance against Sakura ;)
I couldn't say how strong Sakura, let alone Adon, would be during SF4. IIRC Sakura would not be as strong as Adon during SFA. It's plausible that Sakura improved more than Adon between SFA and SF4, although Adon did retain the MuyThai title that entire time. Even then, Akuma may have killed his strongest challenger in SFA3 (rather than fighting Adon and winning); Akuma could have scared the remaining strong competion away. Sakura seems to train at Dan's dojo during the time jump; if considered his strongest student, Sakura could have fought dojo challengers instead of Dan. All this speculation a side, Sagat's student vs Ryu/Dan student just sounds like a good idea IMHO.
