Marvel Vs. Capcom 2: Button Mashing?

I used to do nothing but button-mash in the game because it was so much more complicated to me than SFIIT ever was. After I discovered an actual combo system and tag commands, I began to play MvC2 as the pros do, and I'm still perfecting my craft today...

MvC2's controls are just like a shot gun. No matter what, it's easy to blow a hole in somebody. But some people have learned how to use a shotgun sugical precision. That's where the skill is.

You can't mash against a mediocre/decent player and win in MvC2. 3d fighters on the other hand tend to be a bit more masher friendly, since there are far more variables to memorize.

As long as you know how to pull of super combos, launches, and tag assists, you can beat a good (not pro) MvC2 player by mashing out the air and ground combos mindlessly...

I don't consider performing actual ground and air combos (on purpose) as "mashing" though. That takes a certain level of skill dexterity. Mashing is just hitting all the buttons and hoping something happens.

Double-u... Tee... phhuk...?  (WTF?)

That was probably the most, least thought out statement I've heard on these boards (I'm not so sure about mine right there, because I'm bound to have said something stupider, but still...).  Have you ever heard of a game called Soul Calibur?  More specifically Soul Calibur 3?
Naturally, and normally, I'd leave it at that... but, seriously, you offended me and felt like my skill at SCIII goes unnoticed.

@Ultima  "I don't consider performing actual ground and air combos (on purpose) as "mashing" though. That takes a certain level of skill dexterity. Mashing is just hitting all the buttons and hoping something happens."

@Everyone

I'm really sorry I seem like a jerk, don't get that impression, I was already insulted by Ultima once
("Wow. Have you... not been paying attention to the internet for the past 8 years?

MvC2 is many things, but a button masher is not one of them. In fact, the skill level in this game is so high, that there are levels of expertise that separate the really good from the exceptionally good.")

And my remarks towards Lvl 3 weren't really necessary, but he went a bit far with putting down SCIII there for me...

I don't know how good you are but hey thats pretty mean. Anyone whos played MVC2 knows what a rapefest it is. I mean the word rape is not even strange to say anymore around that game. if you type in the term ima rape him on youtube a match of marvel 2 appers. so lets help cammy rape that 12 year old. "sounds so wrong"

first tip:

Pick Cable: learn air hyper viper beam

Really simple not the best player in the world but it is rape.

Also the description is called "Another raping with cable....fun times :)"

Relax Ultima, don't get all sore.. Jeez...

I'm just saying, me being 1 of the best (if not the BEST) at my local arcade at SFII, the fact that I hopped on MvC2 and got my arse handed to me by a 12 year old made me wonder...

And yeah, I have been paying attention to the internet for the past 9 years actually.  Just because I haven't payed attention to what you paid attention to, doesn't mean I've been living in a whole.

Did you know that not all 12 year olds are idiots?

I'm 11 and i'm pretty smart.
