About This Group

Street Fighter IV is on tour and you're invited to take part in the super-secret, underground events that we're hosting around the country. We're not telling you where or when just yet, but Capcom is planning a number of invite-only, old school arcade-style free-for-alls that will flash back to the glory days of pockets filled with tokens, the sound of trash talk in the air and the sweet, sweet taste of victory. Get ready to put your quarters up and throw down with fellow Capcom Unity members. No token machines that won't take your dollar, no Xeroxed moves lists, just a night of Street Fighter, friends and some surprises.

Super Street Fighter IV Las Vegas Fight Club!
    December 29, 2009 s-kill

Capcom is headed to sunny Las Vegas for CES, and what better way to start the New Year than with some brand new Super Street Fighter IV action?

Yep--we're throwing a little Las Vegas "fight club," and it will be the first chance anywhere for people to go hands-on with the new characters. In addition to the returning SFIV cast, and SSFIV newcomers, Juri, Dee Jay, and T. Hawk, we'll also have Guy, Cody, and Adon playable all night!

Where:  Las Vegas, in our suite in Planet Hollywood.

When:  Thursday, January 7th, from 7-10pm.

How:  Send THIS GUY a note explaining why we should pick you.  If you get in, you can also bring 1 guest--everyone must be 18+ with ID to get in!

It'll be the invincible Team Unity vs rag-tag band Major Nelson can pull together, and we may also hold a friendly little tournament.  There will be prizes for all, but the tournament would have a special format that nets you bonus points for winning with the new characters.  If you want to claim the top prize, don't plan on just hadokening your way to the finals--come ready to try out the new guys too.

If you get in, we'll respond to let you know the room number--because capacity in the suite is limited, if you don't get a reply, don't plan on just showing up, because we won't be able to get you in.  The hotel almost shut us down last year, so we'll get as many as we can through the door, but you'll need an invitation!

Wanna throw down at the NYC Capcom Fight Club?

In the TvC: Ultimate All-Stars department, it's the world's first chance to go hands-on with Mega Man Zero and Joe the Condor, plus Tekkaman Blade, Frank West, and all your rebalanced returning TvC favorites.  On the Super SFIV tip, it's an exclusive taste of Juri, T. Hawk, and Dee Jay.

    Street Fighter IV... Love Song?

    I find this oddly touching.

MS vs Sony vs Capcom, Final Round!
    January 13, 2009 s-kill

On the heels of Round 1 with Microsoft, Jeff from the mighty PlayStation Blog massed his troops and did battle with the forces of Capcom.  The competition was surprisingly stiff, but it was Joe C. took home the title for Sony, and in addition to a Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition, he also picked up a Star Wars Battlefront PSP bundle and the chance to take on Josh L. from Microsoft.

Joe and Josh played the first round on a PS3, and the second on Xbox 360 (both played identical Mad Catz sticks on each system).  The third round system would have been decided by coin flip, but Joe C. won handily on both systems to take the cross-platform championship, and a chance to fight Capcom's ringer... I mean... "representative," the unstoppable Justin Wong

Joe C. definitely stepped up his game to meet the challenge, but Justin took it to the next level and won in straight sets, scoring a Tournament Edition FightStick for his trouble.

Check here for some photos, and here and here to see parts one and two of Joe C. handling Josh L.  The video quality is crummy but the action is hot.

Big ups to Jeff Rubenstein from the PlayStation blog (head here for his coverage and some great photos) and Xbox Live's Major Nelson for working with us to put this together.  It was a ton of fun and a big win for fans on both sides of the raging console wars.

PS- Special hugs to Unity's Greedy McNasty for being exceptionally awesome, and (independently of his other awesome) sending over this cool drum head signed from the Blue Man Group to Capcom Unity.  W00t.

MS vs Sony vs Capcom, Round 1!
    January 13, 2009 s-kill

I’m still slowly recovering from the Las Vegas desert, where the nights were cold, but the Street Fighter action was hooooooottt.

Sure, we had some 7-story RE5 action, but my highlight of Capcom’s trip to CES was of course the Microsoft vs Sony vs Capcom Street Fighter showdown, spread out over two nights.

The first night was to determine the Microsoft champ, featuring Major Nelson’s squad and Capcom Unity members.  It was a great event, full of free play, friendly tournament trash-talk, Mad Catz sticks and pads, and some surprise celebrity guests.  Of course Microsoft’s community generalissimo Major Nelson (resplendent in purple velvet jacket) was there, along with SFIV producer Yoshinori Ono, Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, and… Levar Burton.  Yes, THAT Levar Burton.  Street Fighter fans are everywhere!

Josh L. pulled out the win for Team Microsoft, playing a freight-train Balrog to win a Street Fighter IV Collector's Edition, as well as a 3 year membership to Xbox Live and a shot at the TBD Sony champ.  Major Nelson was also nice enough to offer free 1 year memberships to everyone who won in the first round.  A gentleman and a scholar.

Check out a few pics from the event here, or just switch on your Xbox 360!  Major Nelson’s video coverage of the event is the top story on the “Inside Xbox” tab, and the #2 story on “Spotlight.” You’ll find a taste of the tournament action, first-time player impressions about the game, plus me shaking my head like a spaz after a few too many “5-Hour Energy!” drinks.  Winners don’t do drugs!

Next up is part two of the event, where we battle to determine the Sony rep, and the overall Microsoft vs Sony vs Capcom champ…
