All is not lost! Markman posted this on SRK: Hello, - MarkMan Coming from Markman, this has me pretty stoked. Hopefully it means we can have some sort of TRUE arcade quality stick without having to pay an arm and a leg for it. We'll just have to wait and see as more details come up. |

hmm.. it sounds like they are making an arcade stick. I was under the impresion that they where going to make a gamepad control. I was imagining that they were going to make a generic Xbox 360 gamepad were it's hard to reach the Dpad because they decided to leave the analog sticks in, like this rough mockup.

I think they're making pads as well. Hopefully they are making them with classic and fighters in mind, i.e. the button layout you're referring to, and a dpad that isn't complete garbage like the microsoft 360 pad. I would probably pick up both if they end up being good. Definataly woudln't mind a nice classic controller for playing xbl arcade games/etc. |

Passing judgement on something you haven't even seen (much less actually played on) does not show your sophisticated, demanding tastes as a gamer.

I (we) are passing judgment on Mad Catz based on their track record. They tend to make bad controls that break or stop working within months of purchase. I speak from personal experience with their products. But i would love it if they were to prove me wrong this time around, till then I'll remain skeptical. |

Oy, I have used Madcatz a few times and I have NEVER liked one of their products (rumble packs - N64, controllers, accessories). That does not mean I will not be giving this controller a chance but the statement talks about s-kill/Seth's knowledge of arcade sticks only. I am sure that makes many people happy since sticks is what they play with, but what about the D-padders dangit. They really need to get that right (no analog stick - or at least make the D-pad the focus and therefore more natural thumb position, 6 face buttons, and an accurate D-pad - this seems to be the hardest part to get right and is of course the most important).
I can't get over as to what made Capcom chose Madcatz of all companies though, maybe because they are the cheapest? Logitech would have been my choice of third party. Out of curiosity (and I know pointless seeing as the deal has been made) anyone else have any companies they think should have signed such a contract with instead of Madcatz? |
