(repost from "Ask Capcom" subforum)

When I first heard about the STHD project, I was thrilled as was the rest of the community.  One of Capcom's finest Street Fighter releases gets a makeover with a robust online experience.  I didn't mind the delays, as delays are a small price to pay for a quality product in the end.  In the end, that goal was NOT achieved.

As a PS3 STHD user, I'm extremely disappointed in this release.  Glitches are bound to happen with any project, and is not the reason why I'm upset.  I'm upset because it can be said without any doubt, that the PS3 online experience is mediocre at best.  Most users who have both the PS3 and X360 agreed that the X360's online experience is the best by far.  At first, it didn't concern me .. until I saw the problems for myself.

First, it is HIGHLY annoying to randomly not able to connect to any player; the only way to temporarily remedy the situation is rebooting the PS3 console.  But again, it's only temporary.  Others have complained of the exact same issue.

Secondly, the lag spike at the beginning of each round is deplorable.  Characters seemingly teleport and hit me before I even have the chance to react, and this is something that can be reproduced over 50% of the time.

What upsets me the most is that both of these issues should have been addressed in the beta testing (was there much for the PS3??).  There's no way that with proper beta testing, these flaws could not have been found.

I paid for my copy of HDR just like the X360 owners have, and I should receive the same level of quality.

I'm sorry Capcom, you guys dropped the ball on this one.

Capcom was only partically involved with the SSF2THDR project, why not tell Sirlin how much hard work it put in to make it possible? if it  wasn't for him and for his stubborness to keep the project under the table... well we wouldn't be play it right now would we?

oh yeh, as for PS3 it is not easy to program games into due to lack of userfriendly interface on their SDKs and all 3rd parties are still learning it's architecture and trying to use it's full potential...

i am disappointed how buggy the PS3 version of HD remix turned out, but i am happy it was released on time before Xmas and before SF4 released..

as for laggy issues u should know by now it cannot be avoided... blame the person from the otherside of the world or the person who's downloading something while playing the game..

There are some bugs here and there. The game is still great better than great. If you have a problem with the way the game tured out go pick yourself up a dev kit and go crazy. Show us how the game should be done and make the perfect netcode. Balance the game, redraw the art and make the moves easy to pull off.

Then talk Capcom into not canning the game like 3 times. Go way over budget and have your wife almost leave you. Put your own time and money into a game and have some **** bag get online and tell you your game sucks. I used to cry and complain about the game till I found out how very much work went into the game. Everything you have complained about in the PS3 version can be fixxed in 2 ways.

Go buy an xbox360 and or wait for a patch that will fix the bugs and glitches add trophy support, add bonus stages, tweak the netcode and give you what you want. Play the game be thankfull and look forward to the patch. Just to make things clear I own both games on the PS3 and Xbox360 I play my local friends and never run into lag problems.  Capcom did not drop the ball, David Sirlin, all the bata testers, backbone, overclocked, Ray Jim, Sven, Seth and the many others DID NOT DROP THE BALL!!!!!

Actually, if you have read my post more carefully, you'd see that I didn't complain about the game itself.  I complained about the netcode.  Furthermore, there's no such thing as a 'perfect' netcode.  However, it is becoming rapidly apparent that the netcode for the PS3 version is mediocre, and isn't comparable to the X360 version, much less GGPO or 2DF

Did I say the game sucks?  Did I use foul language like you are?  I also question your assertion that "very much work" went into the PS3 version of this game, judging by my experience and others'.

Why should I have to buy an Xbox 360?  As I stated in my original post, I paid for the game just like the X360 owners have, but now you're saying that I'm expecting too much when the online experience is markedly worse on the PS3?  Yes, someone at Capcom DID drop the ball, and just because you are not experiencing any issues does not mean none exists.

P.S. Even if there was a patch coming (which I would remind you, none has been announced), I paid for a game that I cannot even play on a consistent basis.  I don't think it's selfish of me to complain about a game that I PAID FOR, that doesn't work as advertised, and have to wait for a patch.  The problems I outlined shouldn't exist period.

I've been playing STHD for the past 7 days(and managed 6th place at a tourney in Philly this past weekend) and I can say that this game has some really bad online glitches.

The fact that the screen can go black only displaying the health bars is pretty bad. There's also the lifebar glitch where one player has a red lifebar and the other has a partially yellow and red bar. Most of the time, you can't even connect to a game and most of the time, the game randomly disconnects. You don't even know if the person randomly disconnected or what.

I feel that Sirlin and crew did more beta testing on the Xbox 360 version as opposed to the PS3 version. No version should be better than the other.

Then there's the input lag at the menu screens. That just shouldn't be if your game is being played on a 1080p monitor. If the game is optimized for 1080p, then hell, it should not lag at all.

The netcode is pretty good. It feels alright for when I play(I have smoothing set on High). That's probably the only good point. This only pertains to when you actually play a match, but the glitches just prevent an overall good online experience.

I obviously won't comment on the game changes themselves(jab headbutt going through fireballs, etc) because those are my own views and that of the actual fighting game community(mainly, my ST peers whom I play ST with day in and day out).

Negative, anyone that owns bothe 360 and ps3 versions, will pretty much all unanimously agree that the ps3 online play is seriously screwed up.  I played a buddy on ps3 and 360, who live 2 miles away.  Games are smooth as butter on 360.  On ps3, everyround starts super laggy.  Some rounds start insanely fast out of nowhere, some start super slow, and almost everytime, the second you can move your character, it lags like there's no tomorrow, for about 2-3 seconds.  That ruins it completely there.  And everyone expereinces this.  Unnacceptable.

also, no one is blaming sirlin for this.  He is not a programmer,  it isn;t his responsibility to ensure bugs are in check.  I think other factors are in play here.  Especially when most bugs were found in the beta and well documented, yet never got fixed.  There is something seriously wrong with that.
