I'm a bit of a home theater buff. Not uber, mega hardcore, but more interested in it than most folks.
So when a ten year old receiver in my master bedroom went belly up about two weeks ago, I logically didn't just replace it. I migrated the main receiver in the living room (a Sony STR-ES3000) to the bedroom, and went looking for something bigger/better. That conversation with the wife was touch and go for a while, but in the end, I won out.

The old living room receiver - Sony STR-ES3000 - now bedroom bound.
After doing some searching online, reading reviews from publications and users, I settled on an an Onkyo TX-SR806S. Really good bang for the buck and the five HDMI 1.3a inputs gives me some confidence in reasonable future proofing.

The new Onkyo fresh out of the box - still on the padded wrapping :)
Just getting the wiring right for testing.
What it looks like with the rest of the kit.
For those wondering, the TV is a 65" HP mD6583n DLP monitor - it's a couple years old but it was one of the first TVs under $10K (in this case, well under $10k) that could accept a true 1080p signal over HDMI.
In the end, I got a sweetheart deal on it and it's served me well. Shortly after I got it (I think maybe one more series of releases after this one), HP got out of the DLP game but it's still one of the best DLP sets that could ever be bought.
In my family room, I have a 52" Sony Bravia LCD (1080p/120fps/Motion Engine equipped from Costco), but the HP is my main gaming TV just for the sheer size of it (and it's just a better room for gaming). The bedroom set is an older Samsung 50" DLP (HLN series).
The speakers are all Axiom Audio Epic 80 home theater speakers. These are one of the best investments I've made and I'm sure I'll have these for 15 years or more. I really couldn't recommend these enough to people, especially if you have a big room to fill.
There's a DirecTV VCR+ (the HD one), a 360, a PS3, a Wii and the DVD player is a Sony DVP-CX777 400 disc mega changer.
And that's the latest update for this week.

That room...So big. I'd love to be playing my games on a set up like that
