Anybody who says that a nonfighting character can't be made into a competent fighter, I've got one name for you:
......Servbot. :P
Seriously, the Servbots never fought using their own bodies in any previous games they were in before the Legends series and Tron Bonne. The most they did was shake the opponent and hold them in place for Tron to attack.
And for anyone who says that a nonfighting character can fight for some weird reason. I've got one suggestion for you:
Play that game again....
Wright cannot fight, He can barely defend himself (No pun intended) Play Phoenix Wright, The first one. You'll see that he got laid out by Von Karma with that Tazer, A Tazer. And you think he can stand an Shinkuu Hadouken? If we are gonna continue with this argument then we haven't been playing the Phoenix Wright game. Did Capcom release a Phoenix Wright game where he he did Street fighting in his spare time? I would love to see that. And as for Servbot, (Look above) And not Marvel vs Capcom 2 I mean Megaman Legends 1 One of the first bosses you fight is the Servbot, You beat up Servbots, (I think in the second game) And The Servbots have fought with Tronn Bonne again Megaman Volnutt, Capcom saw that put him in added a little punches and kicks and a bunch of specials from Legends. and Voila: Servbot the fighter. And what do you mean, "Before the Legends series" They came from the Legends series.
I meant to say "before, in the Legends series." I made a typo. Why make such a big deal out of that? Also, beating up Servbots means jack because they're not fistfighting you back. They're running away from you in nearly all cases, or piloting other robots. They weren't meant to be good fighters; the Bonnes' other robots are for that purpose. They were made to serve, hence the name "Servbots," or in the Japanese games, "Kobun," literally meaning "henchmen." Lackeys. Second bananas. Disposables. That's what the Servbots are. If they were good fighters then explain to me why they'd need to take control of bigger 'bots in order to dominate? Hell the Servbots themselves blow up in the game if Rock shoots them three times. Explain your position a little bit better and without the snarky crap this time.
Telling me to play the games again; I play both Legends 1 and 2 and Tron Bonne whenever I can. Maybe you should go back and play them again.
Phoenix Wright not being in a fighter means jack spit about the potential fighting ability Capcom could give him for just one game. Several people have made pretty good movelist examples yet you continue to insist because Phoenix did not come from a fighting game previously he cannot fight. But that makes no sense as Capcom has proven time and time again that they can and will make nonfighters into full-fledged fighting machines.
Hell, Jin from Cyberbots piloted Blodia for the whole game; nobody ever thought he could fistfight (it was never shown), but MvC comes around and suddenly, he can. And it's not like he relies on Blodia much in the MvC games either, as a grand total of three of his moves involve Blodia in some way, shape, or form.
Sonson is another example. In the original Sonson game (which actually starred MvC2 Sonson's grandfather, who has the same name), all he did was travel to the right and pick up powerups. No fighting whatsoever. But Capcom, using a combination of that and the legend of Sun Wukong, they were able to make a pretty decent fighter out of Sonson's descendent.
I find it funny that everytime someone brings up a nonfighting character (as in someone whose original game is not a fighter, such as Saki) becoming a good fighter you shoot the person's opinion down and try to tell them why they're wrong (to no avail, IMO). But the fact still remains that most of them are good examples of nonfighters turned into fighters, whether they already have something that shows they could fight or not. End of story.
Not End of Story. Let's not forget that I don't see your name anywhere in the game So you don't declare anything. But my name isn't on it either. You thing is way too long So I'll get to the point.
Servbots: If you have learned anything from Superheros shows or Power Rangers. Is that Henchmen can be replaced. And you must have a talent for pointing out things that aren't there. I never said the Servbots where good fighters. I just pointed out what Servbots did in both Marvel vs Capcom 2 and the Legends series.
SonSon: Wait, SonSon. Are you seriously gonna use SonSon as an example? Do Dude you even do research? You can't make an argument about SonSon. Because
1) It's not the same person
2) MvC 2 SonSon's moves aren't based off the game the Original SonSon is from.
Phoenix Wright: You wanna based your facts on a bunch of weird movelists people made up that will not work in this game. Press this and that and He'll scream Objection....and then what?, He'll throw evidence. Okay. That seems devastating. So uh. How will screaming Objection win tournaments and Beat Yami? I'm Sure it will take out Mario. But this isn't the case. Please tell since you seem to have all the answers. And again. Even Capcom themselves knew they can't do Phoenix Wright when He can say Objection. Remember that article.
Jin: All of his attacks are based off what Blodia can do in Cyberbots. He can't stray away from his roots of a Mecha Fighter.
Hey their goes you ability to point out things that aren't there. I never said anything about bad about Saki,
1) She's from a dating Sim, But there were points in the game in when she did her solider thing
2) She's got a gun, Her entire moveset is the gun.
(Not Jin, He's a great character) And they are good examples of failure Capcom had put out to make you happy but you don't deliver. What if they put Phoenix in the game. He does small kicks here, Screams Objection there but then that will make you laugh for 3 seconds and you'll never use him again.
I have and guess what? That's not the option. Because a large number of people don't care about a decent let alone the greatest (and only) Wii exclusive Fighting game. They only care about seeing their favorite character in something other than what they are famous for. All the gaming website. I always read some Wii owner say. "I have a Wii, But if Phoenix Wright isn't in it. Then I'm not buying it" "No Speed Racer, No Buy" So, No the fact that the Wii is getting it's own fighitng isn't a factor. And all of you want the game to be fun? Don't make me laugh. Then Phoenix Wright and Speed Racer's names wouldn't show up
People can't have fun with characters they remember/liked from their childhood (or in Phoenix's case, from a popular franchise that gamers generally liked)? Then why have the Street Fighter characters become a staple in all the Capcom vs. Games?
The only thing that will help this game. is 1) A great selection of characters. Of those who aren't unbalanced and who can fight. (In terms of Roll and Viewtiful Joe....Too Late) 2) Great gameplay. Got that down. and Online Play. To argue that fact alone is ignorant and close minded.
Um people bought the Japanese version WHY? It has no online play. Why do people buy classic fighting games with no online play? People like to have FUN...Only fanboys truly base their fighting game purchases on ONE character not being in without playing the game for the other characters and the bigger picture. [if I were like this, I'd not buy since Ken Masters, B.B Hood, Felicia, or Hayato aren't in game, but I'll learn to love the new characters and the current roster. (karas is my Hayato replacement, for example)]
The point of this game to use all the characters let one the ones you like to use.
If this were true, why are over 60% of the MvC2 roster unused in either casual play and especially tournaments and your precious online play? Are almost all (if not all, in your humble opinion,) the character roster of MvC2 "joke" characters? Most people who look at this game from a glance would call the current roster "jokes" without playing or looking at serious gameplay... So that arguement is futile.

Aww, man not another one.
1) Uhh, I don't know, maybe because the vs series is a fighting genre. What better way, to power up the Capcom side than to add in Capcom's greatest fighting game series.
2) Uhh I don't know genius. Maybe because we all didn't think this game would come here. And I'm gonna guess that you didn't know that the game was released only in Japan. Or else you wouldn't be asking me about no online play in the Japanese version. Of course there is no online play! It was only supposed to be released in one region. And about the fanboy thing. then you are speaking one behalf of the majority of users on this forum. I imported the game because. I didn't think it would come out here, I didn't know the Tatsunoko characters So I youtubed and google them and learned about them.
3) Let's see as one of the people who have played it. I guess it's because they are unbalanced, they and broken. Even from what I've seen MvC2 is unbalacned and in terms of Roll and Viewtiful Joe. TvC is slighty unbalanced. But thanks to S-kill's efforts. He's balancing it out. And Adding Phoenix Wright or Speed Racer just to make you happy won't help. And The good attorney is already De-confirmed. And Capcom knows why. So this isn't up to discussion anymore.
Why is Goh bringing up Speed Racer again? I really don't know where his hard on hatred of Speed Racer comes from. I have to agree I wouldn't want to see Phoenix in the game (though I do love the Phoenix Wright series), but if he did make it in, it wouldn't affect whether I buy it or not. I'd probably even give him a shot and see how he plays. And as much as I'd like to see Speed Racer, I doubt it'll happen because of rights issues, but it's not going to keep me from getting it if he's not in it. I would buy it in the states whether it has any new characters or not. I just want to play as Casshan and Ken and Jun, and I can't wait to get my opportunity to do that.
I haven't read through the whole thread, but I did read the first page and I think it's interesting that Phoenix was considered. That goes to show that anyone could show up in this game as one of the new characters. We'll just have to wait and see.
