I was re-directed to this thread, just thought I'd share my experience: After loading my saved file it appears that ALL of my data has been wiped. The 'Item Management' screen is highlighted red, and I only have the option to start a New Game. No 'New Game +' option, no 'continue'; all of the chapters are locked and everything I had collected has disappeared. I feel it is important to note that I did not recieve a 'File cannot be loaded' error message, (or equivalent). Everything seemed fine at first - the usual 'Load Successful' message was displayed but upon trying to continue with my game it appears that the 'successfully' loaded save file is actually 'blank'. I have an Xbox 360 Elite, 120GB Hard Drive. I installed the game after I had completed it. I played the save game file after installing to the Hard Drive, and all seemed fine. I do not vividly recall the last time I played the saved file before it was wiped; I do know however that I was messing around on mercenaries and all of a sudden the frame rate got really choppy. I can't remember if I backed out to the menus properly or just turned the box off; but I definitely didn't turn the machine off as it displayed 'saving game data - do not power the xbox 360 off' message. As a remedy, I have deleted the save game file and uninstalled the game from the HDD. I have racked up a few hours of play since - in between play times I ensured that the box was been switched off 'properly', (i.e. not while the 'saving' dialog is displayed). So far the saved game file has worked correctly and I have experienced no further issues... Other than this annoying issue the game is awesome, the graphics are especially cinematic and pretty much dump on everything else available, even Gears of War! |

Same thing happened to me, I didn't get an error message or anything, it just refused to load my save. Progress wise, I'd unlocked everything you can and fully upgraded weapons etc. |

I have not installed the game on my hard drive, and I did not recieve any error message or a technincal problems, the other day, the game just wont simply not load my save file, as I if I had never played before. I can still view my achievements and save file on my hard drive. Hope that helps. But... What do I do for the time being? Do I start over and replay, or is it likely something like this can happen again? Ive had the same problem on two seperate discs - I should add it's more than likely they were from the same lot number, as they were both from the same store, and other customers have experienced the similar issues . Is the issue with the save file, or with the discs? Should I start a new game, or will this "delete" old one? I want to play it, but I don't want waste any more time, any suggestions? |

This is from my other post on the other forum; with a update
PS3; 60gig version.
Problem occures at somepoint in 1-2 (after you catch up with Alpha Team). I get on the elevator to go down. Screen fades to black and nothing. It's not even loading as the hard drive activity light does not turn on. I left it sitting there for about 30 minutes and nothing.
I uninstalled the game data. Reinstalled with my net connection turned off so I did not get the update. Still freezing.
Even after installing the game. I still had 14 gig left on my hard drive.
Looks like it's faulty discs. *UPDATE* Went back and exchanged games at the same Sam's Club. Got home, deleted game data. Reinstalled date. Quit working at the same spot. I deleted my saved data file to start over. Hopefully it will work, but I'm doubtful. If it doesn't work, I'm returning for a refund. Then keep tabs on if Capcom ever fixes this and get a used copy later. |

I have RE5 for the 360, and Tonight as I opened my console and lauched RE5, I noticed that my save game was gone Had completed the game on easy and hard, unlocked 4 weapons infinite ammo, and now everything is gone ?!? Any solution from capcom ? I totally lost the will to play again On a elite xbox with the 120gig HDD ( Last time Ive turned the console off was into a online game, by pressing the xbox button and turn off console at the beggining of 4-2, since the invite a friend into game wasnt working again) |

Well, same crap just happened to me. 35+ hours of gameplay gone. I'm just going to assume there is no solution. |

For now the only reliable solution I can see is to back up your save game file periodically onto an external memory unit (when a Hard Drive is being used). This way you can recover a working save in the event that the file on your Hard Drive 'corrupts' or just plain wipes itself as in my case. I would also refrain from installing the game onto the HDD as this is known to cause problems with other games where the code was not written with the install utility in mind. I went out and bought a used 64MB memory unit for £12.99 - is it just me or are these things ridiculously overpriced?! The 256MB unit is £34.99 new in GAME stores. I could buy multiple 8GB flash drives for that money! |

Well, update to mine. Got a new copy of the game. Uninstalled the game data from the har drive and installed the data from the new one. Deleted save file and started a new one. The freeze happened at the same spot. Both copies were from the same Sam's Club, PS3 copy for reminder. |

Ok - just to add another case to provide more possible useful info for the developers. I just got the "failed to load save data" last night. Here's my setup: - Xbox 360 elite - game installed to hard drive - save game was stored on the hard drive - The game was not shut down while in the middle of saving. If I had to guess, I would suspect it has something to do with the save game being stored in the same location as the game install files. I know it makes the system behave a little strangely when saving (system slows and the music usually stops for a few seconds while saving)
