i searched nvidia 68000 on google, opened nvidias page www.nvidia.com/page/geforce6.html , and on the bottom found this nice press release:
www.nvidia.com/object/IO_40044.html Seems moderators, your beloved 6800 is only driver enabled/certified to run under Windows Vista. There not a trace of dx10 function on 6800 hardware, so you are just bull**** with that "different set of hardware specs at the time of release." "GeForce 8-series GPUs are the first and only Microsoft DirectX 10-capable GPUs currently available." "The new ForceWare 100.65 drivers support GeForce 6-, 7-, and 8-series NVIDIA GPUs. NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GPUs now meet the Vista Premium Device Logo requirements, in addition to GeForce 6- and 7-series GPUs which previously met the requirements." software shenanigans
p.s. I ran and played just fine RE5 on ATI x1950pro with ENB Resident Evil 5 Patch 1.1., got B marks on variable benchmark with high settings, no blur and AA.... 45fps approx....
so, this ati x1xxxx series is a software issuse, software fix. no critical hardware upgrade needed. And this engine RE5 runs on is the same as used for DMC4 and that port ran with no problems, i don't see what's the problem. The Launcher has a DX9 executable, so it requires the latest dx9.0c hardware. Now dx9.0c IS a different set of hardware specs at the time of release THE ORIGINAL dx9.0 =ppp |

"The Radeon HD 4870 is able to match the GeForce GTX 260's performance using the DirectX 9 render path, but when the DirectX 10 render path is used, the Radeon is crippled and the GeForce keeps on truckin'." -tomshardware "Intrigued by these results, we asked a Capcom representative to connect us with the game's programmers to find out exactly what kind of extra processing was going on under DirectX 10, and what we should look for in order to qualify it. It took the firm a little while to get an answer for us due to some translation issues, but it responded with the following note:" -tomshardware "Sorry, but the response from the team is not very exciting: simple answer for both, [no] new content, or shaders, [or] effects added to Direct[X] 10." -capcom "Benefits for the DirectX 10 users: nothing special, no enhancement. I can tell you that Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision LCD glasses require DX10, so there's a definite need to be on Vista in order to see the incredible 3D effects in action." This explains a lot, actually: we're not seeing any difference between the DirectX 9 and 10 screenshots because there's no difference to see. With this in mind, there's certainly no reason for anyone to play this game in DirectX 10 mode, except for GeForce owners who are using Nvidia's GeForce 3D Vision LCD glasses." -tomshardware Perhaps the most interesting result of our investigation is the revelation that the DirectX 10 option does not offer any enhanced visuals whatsoever, even though it cripples Radeon cards and slows the GeForces a bit. -tomshardware www.tomshardware.com/reviews/resident-ev... I have asked nicely for the moderators who so eagerly responded to my first posts for some proof to their claims, yet even after they have responded to numerous posts after the fact, my questions remain unanswered. I have discussed with many of my colleges as to why this may be, and the general consensus seems to be that the moderators here are simply peons who are being told to say things that arent necessarily true. The general reason for this would normally be to prevent them from looking bad to the public, bad for buisness. However, the more facts I uncover, it seems that it has the opposite effect. I will indeed keep digging and digging untill someone from capcom who knows what they are actually talking about answeres some of my, and many of the other peoples questions. |

Another TWIMTBP bug. This (see above) has been done on purpose. There is no reason for ATI hardware to be crippled in dx10 if the game has been coded properly. Something like this happens everytime on every game with an Nvidia logo. Devs are paid to cripple the competitors hardware, they will deny it, but every game from every developer ? Come on. |
