The Smithsonian American Art Museum is bringing a new exhibit called The Art of Video Games. Here's the scoop:
"The Art of Video Games exhibition will explore the 40-year evolution of video games as an artistic medium, with a focus on striking visual effects, the creative use of new technologies, and the most influential artists and designers. We want you to help us select the eighty video games that will be represented in the exhibition. Remember, this is an art exhibition, so be sure to vote for games that you think are visually spectacular or boast innovative design!"
There are lots of Capcom games that they're putting up for potential exhibits, and it's up to you to vote on your favorites! They've broken the games into five eras, each with their respective consoles. You'll see games like Mega Man II, 1943, Steel Battalion, Monster Hunter Tri, Zack and Wiki, and Okami!
Our live stream shows have been a whole lot of fun over the past couple of years. We hope that not only are we having fun making them, but that you like watching them. Since we love doing the stream so much, we are in the process of adding several new shows that will happen regularly for you to tune in and watch both live, and recorded if you miss them. We're happy to introduce two new shows that will be happening right here on Capcom-Unity via the live stream, Ask Capcom and the return of the Play Against Capcom.
Ask Capcom: We're going to sit down with Sven (Christian Svensson IRL), and go over the questions that are most important to you now. We'll be taking questions from the Ask Capcom forums, from blogs, and on the chat while we're streaming live. Ask Capcom will be airing bi-weekly on Fridays at 1:30pm PST*, and lasts about a half hour. The first show is today!
Play Against Capcom (PAC): That's right, we're bringing back the Play Against Capcom. We're giving you a chance to come play online with us in all sorts of Capcom games. All of which will be live streamed from our perspective. Play Against Capcom will be airing weekly on Fridays at 3:30pm PST*, and lasts about an hour. Starting today with Monster Hunter Tri on the Wii!
*Times can vary depending on schedules, but if a time changes we'll be sure to notify everyone on the blog.
Last night I discovered a little something awesome I thought you guys should totally be using. Our platform for Capcom-Unity in the forums is now set up for mobile. This is just a feature of the platform, so we haven't tweaked or added anything extra. Even though it's simple in design, if you like reading or posting in the forums it's now even easier to do from your phone.
All you need to do is visit the group forums you want to post in, such as "capcom-unity.com/ask_capcom" or "capcom-unity.com/street_fighter" and click the "Forum" link at the bottom of the left hand navigation box. After that, you'll be posting away. You have to have a Capcom-Unity account to post or create threads, and there is no register button. So if you want to participate in the forums, you have to create an account on your PC, then log in on your phone.
Like I said, they're pretty simple, but if you have a Capcom-Unity account (which I assume most of you do), it's easy to post from your phone. I haven't tried this out on Android/Blackberry/magic phones/jitterbugs, so try it out, leave a comment on how it works for you.
We had this really old thread called "Inside Capcom" from about 3 years ago. That was back when we first moved into the offices here in San Mateo from the old offices in Sunnyvale. Well, it has been thoroughly updated. I went around with my iPhone taking pics of the fun stuff in the office.
A few weeks ago we held a contest for you to Color in Serbot. We took all of you entries and put them up in a poll for Unity to vote on. The results are in, and we have our winner! Instead of just showing the number one, we've put up our top ten for you to see. Nice work to all of you who entered! These drawings will come in handy when we produce our Servbot Army and take over the world.
