With a sizable solo campaign and robust co-options via the two-player RAID mode, Resident Evil Revelations is already overflowing with content. But if your friends also happen to be playing the game, you can swap all kinds of helpful items via 3DS StreetPass functionality…
The parachute icon indicates a new “drop” from a friend – tap the icon to claim it!
Once you successfully swap data via StreetPass, you can hop into the game and see what item you received. In this case, it looks like passing by Rossi has yielded a new Custom Part called “Narrow 2.” Not sure what this one does precisely, but Custom Parts offer all kinds of benefits for your customizable weapons. Bigger ammo clips, increased stopping power and other boons can help make your trek through the campaign that much easier.
You can also receive new RAID mode enemies and missions via StreetPass. Think of “missions” as Achievements or Trophies, where you’re given a task with some kind of associated reward. The two screens above show the player completing a basic campaign mission – scanning one of the hidden handprints – and then viewing the reward in the missions menu. In this case, we’ve earned a free Green Herb for unlocking the mission. Naturally there will be more difficult missions to complete, but the rewards will be greater.
We also have a handful of new screens that cover other areas of the game, including the weapon bench where you can tinker with your aforementioned Custom Parts. Let’s run through ’em real quick, shall we?
Hey, a Weapon Bench!
Choose a weapon from your current loadout…
And then, based on the number of slots the gun has, customize away!
Here’s a Custom Part called “Edge Runner” – note its effects
Revelations is out in Europe on 1/27 and here in the US on 2/7. More screens here .
