Are you prepared to CHALLENGE AGAIN? You won’t have to wait long to take up your Lance and charge into the Demon Realm as Arthur on his latest rescue mission – Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection launches digitally on Nintendo Switch on February 25th! Hit the jump for all the latest on the legendary knight’s next adventure, including a new trailer complete with a few spooky surprises that are sure to delight long-time GnG fans.
Difficulties ‘n Dangers There are a few things we can all agree on, no matter where we come from. The sky is blue, water is wet, and Ghosts ‘n Goblins games can be incredibly difficult. The original arcade game was known for being a “quarter-eater” back when it first released, and when the game was later brought to home consoles in the 8-bit era, it retained many of the sharp edges that made the original so darn difficult.
Fortunately, Ghosts ‘n
Goblins Resurrection offers multiple difficulties for those who want to
experience all the game has to offer! If you’re a returning player who doesn’t
mind seeing Arthur reduced to a pile of bones over and over again in your quest
for glory, the Legend difficulty mode is right up your alley. Offering the most
challenging Ghosts ‘n Goblins
experience, this difficulty throws down the gauntlet with a large number of
enemies and tough encounters that will put your skills (and single layer of
armor) to the test!
Turning down the heat with the Knight difficulty mode will
give Arthur an extra hit point of armor, allowing him to retain some of his
armor pieces and his pride before he’s fully reduced to his boxers, while the Squire
difficulty mode provides a bit more breathing room by reducing the number of
enemies as well. For little knights, those just learning how to play, those
looking for a more relaxed experience, and for players of any type, Page mode provides
Arthur with a blessing of eternal life, allowing the gallant knight to
resurrect right on the spot should he fall in battle.
For those of you who forge your way through the entire game
on the Legend, Knight, or Squire difficulty modes, a brand-new challenge awaits….
Shapes ‘n Shadows A Ghosts ‘n Goblins game isn’t
complete without a second loop, and Ghosts
‘n Goblins Resurrection is no exception to that rule. You may have seen it
showcased in the trailer above, but every stage will have a “Shadow” version –
a dark and sinister side to a zone you’ve conquered before. We don’t want to
spoil the fun of discovering what these stages have to offer, but there’s far
more to the shadows than a simple revisit. It will take all of your skills to
survive each one, and promises to be the ultimate challenge for even the most
seasoned knights!
Weapons ‘n… Warlocks? Okay, okay, Arthur isn’t a warlock, that one was a bit of a stretch.
However, you’ll have access to a wide variety of classic and new weapons that
are sure to delight players of all styles. Arthur’s standard Lance returns,
offering a good mix of range and power, while the Crossbow fires in a spread
pattern, allowing you to target enemies that are just a bit above or below you.
Spreading on contact with the ground, the Holy Water makes a return—wait, where
are you going? Come back, the quick-flying Dagger is here, too! There are also
some new weapons ready to mix things up – my personal favorite is getting up
close and personal with the Hammer, a powerful short-range weapon that’s sure
to re-bury any undead that pop out, while the new Spiked Ball rolls along the
ground, crushing anything unfortunate enough to be caught in its path.
Magic also makes a return, of course! Rather than being tied
to Arthur’s armor or the specific weapon he’s wielding, magic can be cast when
it’s equipped to his aptly named Magic Waistband. You may remember
Thunderstorm, which calls thunderbolts and lightning (very, very frightening),
but it’s now joined by many other types of magic, including its earthy cousin,
Emboulden. Unsurprisingly, this magic turns Arthur into a boulder. Rolling
around at the speed of… a large rock… has its perks, causing Arthur to bowl
over enemies – though you may have some trouble with platforming until you
transform back. You can also turn enemies to stone, making them useful, if
temporary, platforms, or even turn nearby foes into mostly harmless frogs with
Transmogrifrog. It’s better when your adversaries croak but Arthur doesn’t,
right?
Time ‘n Time Again Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection
will put all your skills to the test, and there are still a few more surprises
in store. We hinted at one of those surprises at the end of the trailer above,
too. Make no mistake, the game is running just as intended, but time can have a
way of moving strangely in the world of Ghosts
‘n Goblins Resurrection. Keep an eye on the Capcom USA Twitter,
Facebook,
and Instagram
– we’ll have more to share soon, including developer videos that shed a bit
more light on how this resurrection of a classic series came to be.
That’s all for now – if you’re ready to take the fight to
the Demon Realm, you can pre-order Ghosts
‘n Goblins Resurrection on Nintendo Switch starting today, and be ready to
play the moment it’s available digitally on February 25th! Check out
the official website
for even more info. And don’t forget – Capcom
Arcade Stadium is also on the way, bringing 32 arcade classics to Nintendo
Switch in February! Check out all the details on the collection’s official
website.
That’s a wrap for the Resident Evil Showcase, but we’ve got a recap here just for you! Regardless of if you missed the event or just need a quick place to see everything that was shown off, we’ve got you covered with the release date of Resident Evil Village, info on the PlayStation 5 demo called Maiden, and more!
Additional Platforms
and Release Date In case you missed it, we confirmed that Resident Evil Village will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
X|S, and Steam, as well as PlayStation 4 with a free digital upgrade to PS5 in
North America and Xbox One with Smart Delivery! That’s not all, of course, as
we also announced the launch date for the game on all platforms worldwide: May
7th, 2021!
In addition, a Deluxe version of the game is available that
includes multiple bonus items, including a Samurai Edge weapon, an option to
replace the save room music and the typewriters you save on with the music and tape
recorder from Resident Evil 7 biohazard,
and other bonuses. Those looking for the ultimate conversation starter can grab
the Collector’s Edition from select retailers, which offers everything in the
Deluxe Edition plus a Chris Redfield statue, poster, art book, and SteelBook
case in a special Collector’s Edition box. With the game just a few months away,
you’ll want to secure your copy before it’s too late!
New Trailer, New Faces, New Gameplay With a new trailer kicking off the stream, we put the spotlight on a mysterious castle and its residents, particularly everyone’s favorite new character, the tall lady who’s captivated everyone’s hearts as of late. We’re happy to put a name to the face: Lady Dimitrescu, who appears alongside her three daughters. We won’t spoil what role this quartet plays in the story, but we can tell you that you’ll see them throughout Dimitrescu Castle. That should give you a strong idea of the relationship between these women and the castle they reside in.
That’s not the only new character we showcased, though. You may remember a certain side-shot of a man shrouded in darkness from the previous trailer. We’re finally able to shed some light on who he is: A rather large merchant that is only known as “the Duke.” You’ll be able to purchase weapons, items, and perhaps even customize your arsenal with his help – but remember, everything comes at a price, which is something the Duke is all too fond of reminding you of. There was one other character who got a moment to shine in the latest trailer, but we’ll let you speculate on who he is for now. He doesn’t seem particularly fond of Ethan, that much is for sure.
We also showcased world premiere gameplay and a first look at combat! You’ll be facing a wide variety of foes, which will require different approaches if you want to fight back effectively. You’ll also have new ways to engage with enemies by kicking them away to create some space to escape or fight back. while blocking makes a return from Resident Evil 7 biohazard. We’ll let the gameplay that you see in the Showcase speak for itself.
PlayStation 5 Demo Of course, we also had major news for PlayStation 5 owners – a new demo, called Maiden, will be available starting today. [Update: The demo is now live!] Rather than offer a slice of the full game, Maiden will instead function as a sort of short side story that takes place in the same world as Resident Evil Village, but at a different time than the main story. Instead of playing as Ethan Winters, you’ll be playing as a woman known only as the “maiden” as she attempts to find her way out of the castle.
Unique from the full game, there’s no combat or even
blocking in this demo. Instead, Maiden provides an opportunity to explore a
small piece of the detailed world that Resident
Evil Village offers.
Resident Evil 25th Anniversary As part of Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, we also unveiled a brand-new online multiplayer game, Resident Evil Re:Verse! Featuring fan-favorite characters clashing across familiar locales in the Resident Evil universe, buying Resident Evil Village will also grant you access to this celebration of the franchise’s anniversary, as well. We’ll have more details on the launch date for Resident Evil Re:Verse in the future, but check out the trailer below for a sneak peek at what to expect.
Wrap-up There’s a few things we haven’t covered, including new info on the Resident Evil Infinite Darkness animated
series coming to Netflix, as well as a special cross-over event with Tom Clancy’sThe Division 2. If you missed the live stream or simply want to
relive the memories, you can re-watch the entire stream on YouTube:
That’s all for now! Resident
Evil Village comes to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox
One, and Steam on May 5th, 2021! PlayStation 5 owners can check out
the Maiden demo for a sneak peek of what the full game has to offer, too. For
all the latest Resident Evil news, be sure to follow the Resident Evil Facebook,
Twitter,

We’re starting the New Year strong with a bevy of Monster Hunter Rise news, including new
monster and feature reveals and the release of a downloadable Demo!
The news was brought to you by the Monster Hunter dev team in Japan via our Monster Hunter Digital Event – January 2021. If you’ve already
watched the live stream or VOD, you’re good to go. Otherwise, here’s a quick
recap:

Frost Islands –
once a nest of huge dragons a long time ago. It is said many heroes went there
to try and slay them, to no avail. Similar to the Shrine Ruins and Flooded
Forest, you can expect to encounter a wide variety of monsters and endemic life.
Goss Harag – a Fanged
Beast capable of creating blades of ice to attack its prey. Its chilling
presence should not be taken lightly…
Returning Monsters
– along with the new icy region and Goss Harag, we’ve also revealed the return
of some fearsome fan-favorite foes: Khezu, Great Baggi, Lagombi, Barioth,
Tigrex, and Mizutsune!
Magnamalo – the
flagship monster of Monster Hunter Rise
shows off some of its tricks, including tail attacks that seem to spew a gas
that looks like hellfire!
Wyvern Riding – this
brand-new hunting technique uses the Ironsilk from Wirebugs to bind monsters allowing
you to control them. Now you can take their immense power and use it to hunt other
monsters! Check out a more in-depth overview of this feature in our tutorial
video below.
NPC Introductions
– meet more of the cast of colorful characters that inhabit Kamura Village and
will help you in your journey to fight back against the impending Rampage.

Just like a perfectly timed Judgement Cut, today we’re following up on Vergil’s arrival by releasing some additional content on Steam, in the form of awesome head-bangin’ Devil May Cry music albums!
For the uninitiated, Steam now has a section of their store dedicated to music. This is most commonly used for soundtracks of games available on Steam (and you’ll find the Devil May Cry 5 OST there as well!), but it’s also open to any music release… hence Devil May Cry HR/HM Arrange. It’s one hell of an album, so I definitely recommend checking it out.
Alright, enough from me. Between Vergil and these rockin’
tunes, you’ve got enough to juggle today. Keep it SSStylish!
Put on your waterproof boots and prepare to wade through the
Flooded Forest and confront slippery new foes in Monster Hunter Rise.
It’s also time to start getting your Nintendo Switch ready for your first taste of Monster Hunter Rise with the free, public demo that will be released in January.
In our last Monster Hunter Rise trailer and blog, we introduced the main story and setting, the all-new Shrine Ruins locale and the new core gameplay mechanics: Wirebug and Palamute. Now, it’s time to expand the horizons and unveil the marshy wetlands of the Flooded Forest.
Flooded Forest
Of course, as new areas are introduced, we are bound to see new life inhabit them and fight to protect their turf. In addition to returning favorite swamp-dwellers Royal Ludroth and Great Wroggi, today we also met the intoxicating Somnacanth and the trickster Bishaten.
SomnacanthBishaten
We also got another look at our preparations for the impending Rampage, including a glimpse at the Stronghold. Are you ready to face a huge stampede of monsters?
The StrongholdThe Stronghold
We know you’re itching to get your hands on Monster Hunter Rise, so we’re preparing a free demo to give you a little taste of what we have in store. All we can say for now is the demo is slated for a January 2021 release, so stay tuned!
Announced at The Game Awards 2020, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection sees the return of the gallant knight, Arthur, as he embarks on a brand-new quest to rescue the princess from the devious Demon Realm! Plus, dozens of arcade classics make their return with a slew of new features in Capcom Arcade Stadium!
Ghouls, Ghosts, ‘n Goblins
There are few spots more idyllic than the hilltop looking
out over the kingdom. It’s here that the noble princess and her gallant knight,
Arthur, enjoy spending time together… but their time together is unexpectedly
cut short when malicious monsters appear and take off with the princess! Taken
by surprise and only able to watch as the princess is kidnapped to the Demon
Realm, the chivalrous Arthur dons his armor and embarks on a quest to rescue
the princess and save the day!
For over 35 years, Ghosts
‘n Goblins games have tested and delighted players with challenging
gameplay, gigantic bosses, and a cast of familiar foes, including Zombies,
Skeleton Murderers, Pigmen, and, of course, the infamous Red Arremer. This time
around, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection
brings a whole new meaning to the phrase “side scroller.” With the story being
presented on an in-game scroll of parchment, Arthur will run, jump, battle, and
navigate his way across platforms, pits, and tricky terrain in a storybook-like
world while he tries to keep his armor – and his honor – intact on his quest to
save the princess.
Seasoned Knights need not worry; this is a brand-new take on
the GnG you know and love. Filled with
deadly enemies, devious traps, and delightful levels that will put your skills
to the test Ghosts ‘n Goblins
Resurrection takes cues from both the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins as well as the sequel, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts, to create entirely new challenges. Knights of all
kinds can bravely journey into the Demon Realm by selecting one of multiple difficulty
modes, including Squire, Knight, and Legend. For new apprentices who are just
learning to throw a lance, Page mode allows them to respawn on the spot with unlimited
lives.
Arthur will have plenty of options to dispatch his enemies.
Multiple familiar weapons make their return, including the classic Lance and
the deadly Dagger, with new, unique weapons making their first appearance,
including the crushing Hammer and fatal Spiked Ball. Magic returns, too, giving
Arthur a variety of spells to unleash on his enemies, including the sizzling
Firewall and the crackling Thunderstorm. Knights of all kinds will need to find
the right combination of weapon, magic, and skills that works best for them if
they wish to survive the perilous journey through the Demon Realm!
Insert Coin
The year is 199X. You just finished a bottle of clear cola. There
are blacklights everywhere, and you can feel the crunch of the thin carpet – decorated
with neon shapes and squiggles – beneath your tennis shoes. It’s your third
attempt at impatiently jamming a $5 bill into the token machine, and you can
barely hear the clicks and whirs of the bill (finally) being accepted over all
the noise in the arcade. But a moment later, the ping of tokens spilling out greets
your ears, and as you scoop each handful into your pockets, you look out over
all the colorful cabinets and think… what am I going to play next?
Relive the heyday of arcades with Capcom Arcade Stadium,
featuring 32 classics from the mid-1980s through the early 2000s! Start your
tour with a free download of 1943 – The Battle of Midway –, or see where
Arthur’s journey began with the stand-alone add-on of Ghosts ‘n Goblins.
You can also grab your favorite games from three different arcade packs
spanning multiple eras! Packs include 80’s nostalgia trips like BIONIC
COMMANDO and STRIDER, and games that defined the 90’s arcade
revolution – including SUPER STREET FIGHTER II TURBO. Ready to go all-in on the classic arcade experience?
You can grab all three packs of 10 games and the Ghosts ‘n Goblins stand-alone
add-on at once with the “all-in” pack, and enjoy them all any time you want!
The full arcade experience is available to you, too, with
lots of modern features on top of local co-op (up to four players for games
that support it). Game Speed and Difficulty Level can be adjusted, allowing you
to slow things down (or speed things up!) to your liking, while a Rewind
feature allows you to run it back and try again if things don’t go quite as
planned. For the ultimate nostalgia trip, additional Display Settings, Display
Filters, and even various frames, including a variety of 3D-rendered arcade
cabinets, can add a classic touch to the visuals.
For avid arcade players, we have even more in store: Playing
games, earning in-game accomplishments, and completing challenges earns CASPO –
think of it like a running score tracker, or experience points. As you accrue
CASPO, you’ll earn new 2D and 3D frames to display in-game. Those looking to
see how they stack up against the competition can claim their place on the
online leaderboards in “Timed Challenge” and “Score Challenge” game modes for their favorite
titles.
Are you ready to CHALLENGE AGAIN? Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection and Capcom Arcade Stadium both launch in February 2021 on Nintendo
Switch!

Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is finally here, just in time to showcase the true power of Next-Gen gaming! Whether you’re a SSSeasoned DMC player or jumping into it for the first time with DMC5SE, here’s a handy SPOILER-FREE recap guide of everything you get to play right from the start:
Playable Vergil (Now also available as DLC for Devil May Cry 5 on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One)
If you’ve been following our news and updates since the Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition announcement,
you should know Vergil is a pretty big deal for this version of the game.
You’ll be able to start playing as him right away!
SIDE NOTE: a quick word of warning to newcomers. If you’re looking to
experience the full story of DMC5SE, I recommend starting with the Nero / V / Dante
campaign. The Vergil campaign assumes you have already played the original
story, and offers fewer story moments. And if you want to get a refresher on
the story of previous games, look for the brief overview “History of DMC” on
the main menu.
Vergil comes fully equipped with his signature weapons and
various forms of power. Of course, you’ll be able to power-up those weapons and
abilities even more with Red Orbs, but here’s a quick breakdown of his demonic
arsenal:
Yamato
– his classic katana-style sword, given to him by his father, Sparda. Its
attacks are swift and capable of slicing demons with deadly precision.
Beowulf
– a set of gauntlets and boots with immense destructive power. Take the time to
charge its attacks and watch demons break apart.
Mirage
Edge – a conjured sword resembling the Force Edge, capable of devastating
combos and crowd control.
Mirage
Blades – summoned swords that Vergil uses as long-range projectiles. These
can also be summoned in various formations at the cost of Devil Trigger gauge.
Doppelganger
– Vergil’s Devil Trigger manifested in a ghostly twin that shadows his moves.
You can even tinker with some of Doppelganger’s behaviors by issuing commands
with the d-pad (default controls).
Sin Devil
Trigger – Vergil’s true power is unleashed, opening paths to brutal combos
and obliterating damage potential.
World of
V – this powerful new technique cleaves out Vergil’s human form, V, and his
Familiars to shred and vaporize as many demons as possible.
Nero / V / Dante
Moving on from Vergil for now… DMC5SE also includes the entire contents of the 2019 release Devil May Cry 5. That means Nero, V and
Dante are fully playable in their own Missions, the Void and Bloody Palace
(after clearing the story once)!
WARNING: before braving Legendary Dark Knight mode (info below), I
definitely recommend playing through the main Nero / V / Dante story once to
unlock all their story-related abilities. There’s some serious character growth
tied to gameplay that you won’t want to miss!
Anyways, let’s take a hot second to recap their playstyles
and places in the story:
Nero
kicks off the story of DMC5 by losing
his Devil Bringer demon arm, but thanks to the mechanical genius of his friend
Nico, he quickly acquires new replacements known as Devil Breakers. These
powerful (but fragile) new arms join his trusty turbo-charged sword Red Queen and
Blue Rose hand cannon, and open his playstyle up to even more SSStylish combos
than ever.
V
made his debut as the mysterious third protagonist in DMC5, bringing with him a completely new playstyle unlike anything
else in the Devil May Cry series.
Instead of fighting demons head on, V commands three Familiars: Griffon, Shadow
and Nightmare. But that doesn’t mean V is always safe! His primary Familiars (Griffon
and Shadow) have their own health gauges and can temporarily fall in battle.
And one more thing: V has to be the one to land the finishing blow on his
targets. Definitely a unique way to stylishly slay demons!
Dante
returns with plenty of new tricks! Aside from his four signature styles
(Trickster, Gunslinger, Swordmaster and Royal Guard) and his reliable Rebellion
sword and Ebony & Ivory pistols, he gets access to a wild arsenal of
weapons. Highlights include the Faust Hat (yes, a hat as a weapon) and the
Caveliere motorcycle (yes, a motorcycle as a weapon). I’m not joking.
Special Edition
Content
As part of the Special Edition package, you’ll be getting a
handful of other nifty features and content. I’ve already got two lists in this
blog, so why stop now?
Turbo Mode – dial up the speed of gameplay by 20%! And we mean all gameplay: running speed, enemy movement, enemy attacks, jumps, jump cancels, Judgement Cut windows, Red Queen Exceed, Max Act windows, everything! Don’t worry though… the awesome music plays at regular speed.
Legendary Dark Knight Mode – this one is categorized as a difficulty option (similar to Human, Devil Hunter, etc.) but it’s a little more than that. Did I say “a little?” I meant “A LOT.” As in… the game will throw A LOT more enemies at you at once! It actually feels like a completely different way to play DMC5SE. Friendly reminder to power-up in the standard story mode before trying this out… unless you’re really up for the challenge.
Deluxe EditionSSStuff – along with the original DMC5 release in 2019, we launched a Deluxe Edition featuring an assortment of cool items. Highlights include four unique Devil Breakers for Nero, the variant “Cavaliere R” weapon for Dante, battle music tracks from previous games and one of the best features in gaming history: pre-viz live action cutscenes!
Next-Gen Features
Ready for one more list? Of course you are. Next-Gen
features; let’s go:
Reduced
Load Times – things load so fast we had to add an optional feature that
asks you to confirm mission start, so you’re not caught off guard. Also, so you
can read the loading screen tips 🙂
Increased
Frame Rates – up to 120fps, baby!
Ray
Tracing – SSShiny new tech that allows us to trace rays of light and track
as they bounce off surfaces, generating shadows and reflections in real time! NOTE: this feature is not available for DMC5SE
on Xbox Series S.
3D Audio
– this one is a bit subtler, but if you have headphones on, you can actually
pinpoint demons’ positions as they approach you based on audio cues alone!
Alright… I think that’s a pretty thorough roundup of all the
key info on Devil May Cry 5 Special
Edition; I just left some info out here and there to preserve any potential
spoilers.
Before I go… here’s another list! You thought I was done?
Foolishness!
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (Digital) – Available NOW on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition (Physical) – Available NOWon PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Vergil DLC for Devil May Cry 5 – Available NOW on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Attention devil hunters, today we just launched digital pre-orders for Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, so we also wanted to share some key dates and important info ahead of launch, including the release date for Vergil DLC for Devil May Cry 5 (Dec. 15th, 2020) and an update on ray tracing for Xbox Series S.
DMC5SE Pre-Order Bonus
Starting right now, you can pre-order Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S digital stores. Anyone who purchases the game by November 18th, 2020 will get a free pack of 100,000 Red Orbs. These are immensely useful early on in the game as they’ll help unlock moves, buy Devil Breakers, buy other Orbs and even bring you back from defeat in a pinch. Or… you can be a total badass and just hold onto them, saving up for some of those pricey Taunts. Up to you.
DMC5 Vergil DLC
Release Date
We mentioned this early on alongside our game announcement,
but never gave you a firm date or price. Well, it’s time to change that.
Our dev team has been hard at work in getting DMC5SE ready to launch the same day as
PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, so Vergil will be arriving on PlayStation 4,
Xbox One and PC just a few weeks after that, on December 15th, 2020 and will cost just US$4.99 / €4.99 / £3.99.
To keep you motivated, we’ll leave you with a quick reminder that Vergil will be fully playable on Story Missions, The Void, and Bloody Palace.
An Update on Ray tracing
for Xbox Series X|S
We’re excited to bring Devil
May Cry 5 Special Edition to Xbox Series X|S with high frame rates up to
120 fps, enhanced 3D audio, reduced loading times, the Legendary Dark Knight
difficulty, Turbo Mode and playable Vergil on both consoles.
Fans playing Devil May
Cry 5 Special Edition on Xbox Series X will also experience the game in 4k
resolution and with Direct X Ray Tracing. Both consoles deliver amazing next
generation speed and performance, and while we are just now scratching the
surface of what they can do our teams are eager to continue exploring the full
capabilities of Xbox Series X|S in the future.
While ray tracing will be available as a downloadable title
update on Xbox Series X, Devil May Cry 5
Special Edition will not support ray tracing on Xbox Series S.
