Resident Evil Resistance adds a new update to the horde of content available now

An additional title update for Resident Evil Resistance is available now, bringing new updates to the asymmetrical co-op survival horror game set in the Resident Evil universe! Since the game launched earlier this year, there’s been lots of free content added. You can now play as Jill Valentine, take direct control of the relentless pursuer Nemesis, explore multiple additional maps, and further customize both the Survivors as well as the Masterminds’ zombies and other creatures with costumes and gestures. Catch up on all the available content plus details on the latest update below!

Additional Friends and Foes
Jill Valentine was able to escape the remains of Raccoon City, but can she escape a series of twisted experiments? Jill joined the ranks of the Survivors shortly after the game launched earlier this year, bringing her training and skills as part of Raccoon City’s Special Tactics and Rescue Service (S.T.A.R.S.) with her. With access to an arsenal of powerful weapons and the ability to quickly dodge enemy attacks, Jill joins the ranks of the Survivors as they attempt to escape sadistic experiments run by the Masterminds.

The selection of Masterminds expanded as well, adding a familiar face to the roster: Resident Evil 3’s own Nicholai. A master of weaponry in his own right, Nicholai brings powerful firearms to bear against the Survivors, matched only by his ability to take control of the ultimate bioweapon: Nemesis. Marking the first time Nemesis has been playable in a Resident Evil game, you’ll be able to crush the Survivors with powerful blows and unleash a rocket launcher to ensure they stay down for the count.

City Tour
Take a tour of the many different maps that are available! The Downtown, Abandoned Park, Casino, and Research Facility maps that were all available at launch still offer plenty of tricks, traps, and surprises in the hands of the right Mastermind, while three other maps have been added since to keep the Survivors on their toes.

The Prison map drops Survivors into the creepy corridors of an old penitentiary, providing a mix of cramped corridors and open prison cells. It’s perfect for a clever Mastermind to drop a few zombies in behind bars or around corners to keep the Survivors’ heart rates up… and their chances of survival down.

Meanwhile, two maps received remixed versions, keeping some familiar sights while changing the layout to raise the stakes for both Survivors and Masterminds alike. Re-visit the streets and buildings of Raccoon City with the Uptown map, and enjoy a spook-tacular time at the Bemusement Park. No ticket required, but you may have a hard time getting out once you’ve arrived at this perilous park.

Master of Customizing
Variety is the spice of life, as they say, and Survivors have quite an array of skills to choose from alongside customization options that allow them to personalize their abilities even further, with even more options added via updates since the game’s launch. Plus, additional gear has been added, giving the Survivors extra perks to help them overcome each nightmarish trial. Not to be outdone, Masterminds have also received new cards to play, allowing them to place their own modified traps and creatures to thwart the Survivors’ escape attempts.

That’s not counting all the other ways you can mix things up as you play, with a multitude of bonus costumes, weapon skins, environmental sprays, and even gestures for Survivors and Masterminds alike. Survivors can get physical with luchador costumes or take a walk on the wild side with animal costumes, while Masterminds can add a little flair to their shambling army with unique zombie skins. There are few things scarier than an undead clown leaping out from the shadows.

The Last Escape, For Now
With today’s update being the last planned update for Resident Evil Resistance for now, there’s lots of additional items to look forward to this time around.

Today’s update includes two weapon types for Survivors and new skill cards, as well as a new creature you may recognize from Resident Evil 3, the NE-α. It also includes specific cards based on Mastermind personality types that can only be used in certain areas. Also included are 35 Survivor skin color variations, 10 creature variations, and much more. Each character’s rank has also been upped from 20 to 25, and the Mastermind’s rank cap has been adjusted to unlock all skill cards at 20. Please check the official website for details.

That wraps up content updates for Resident Evil Resistance for now, but the development team will continue to keep an eye out for any issues. A balance update is also in the works, to be released in the next few days. We hope you continue to play and enjoy duking it out as both Survivors and Masterminds! Resident Evil Resistance is included with Resident Evil 3, available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC! Fatalis, the Legendary Black Dragon, storms into Monster Hunter World: Iceborne!

Yuri Araujo

Hunters of the Fifth Fleet, it’s time to pay a visit to a historical site, and confront a living legend…

Fatalis, the Legendary Black Dragon

Passed down from generation to generation as just a legend, Fatalis is said to have wiped out an entire kingdom overnight. Such power and potential makes for very scary stories, but little evidence was ever made available. However, the Guild has now confirmed the return of this mythical Elder Dragon; it’s heading straight to Castle Schrade to finish what it had started.

Hunters, make sure you bring out your best gear and keep your wits about you venturing into this quest. Weapons from the castle’s last stand are still available—hopefully functional—and you’ll need all the help you can get to fend off the Legendary Black Dragon… and survive to tell the tales.

Version 15.01 Patch Notes

NOTE: Before you can take on the Special Assignment to hunt Fatalis, you must be MR 24 or higher, have completed at least the Safi’jiiva Recon Assignment, and have encountered Alatreon in its Special Assignment at least once.

Fatalis

Fall Seasonal Event – Fun Fright Fest

Our next seasonal event in Iceborne will be all about monsters. No, not the ones you hunt in Quests; we’re talking creatures of darkness… demons, succubi, and ghosts!

But don’t worry! These aren’t real. At least not in Astera or Seliana anyway. So we’re decking out the Seliana Gathering Hub with sinister new décor and tuning the music selection to “spooky.” We invite you to partake in the activities and, if you’re brave enough, try out our new seasonal food platter. Its nutritional value is a mystery worth the dare.

And as per tradition, we’ll feature a plethora of items to craft and collect: Armor Sets, Layered Armor, Weapon Pendants, Palico Gear, a Poogie Outfit and more!

Fun Fright Fest will run from October 16 until November 5 UTC.

Fun Fright Fest

Arch-Tempered Velkhanaster Rank Layered Armorapphire Star light your way! than the its about youing stratight

Another Arch-Tempered Elder Dragon was just spotted on the horizon. This time, it’s none other than the flagship monster of Iceborne, Velkhana! Get ready to brave the harsh conditions of the Hoarfrost Reach once more and face off against the extremely powerful Arch-Tempered Velkhana.

Those who manage to vanquish this ruthless Elder Dragon will be awarded a special Weapon Pendant and materials to craft the versatile Velkhana γ (gamma) armor set.

Arch-Tempered Velkhana Event Quest will be live from October 16 UTC until November 5 UTC.

Clutch Claw Boost

With the arrival of new threats, Hunters must ready themselves as best as they can to stand a chance. And to help nudge the odds in your favor, we’re adding a new armor skill, called Clutch Claw Boost.

This handy new skill will allow heavy weapons (Great Sword, Hammer, Hunting Horn, Lance, Switch Axe, Charge Blade, Heavy Bowgun) to also draw slinger ammo from monsters—similar to what light weapons are capable of doing—while tenderizing a monster’s hide with their Clutch Claw weapon attack.

Conversely, light weapons (Long Sword, Sword & Shield, Dual Blades, Gunlance, Insect Glaive, Light Bowgun, Bow) will also benefit from this skill by tenderizing monsters’ hides with a single Clutch Claw weapon attack, while also drawing slinger ammo.

Master Rank Layered Armor

Calling all Fashion Hunters! The feature you’ve been waiting for is finally here. As of this latest update, Master Rank armor sets will now be available to craft as Layered Armor! Some sets will be tied to upcoming Event Quest rewards, but most sets are now available for crafting, mixing and matching. Now’s your time to shine: go, and become the Master Fashion Hunters!

Elder Melder Decorations

Good news for Hunters looking for some rare Decorations: the Elder Melder will now be able to craft some especially elusive jewels:

  • Elementless Jewel 2
  • Shield Jewel 2
  • Sharp Jewel 2
  • Dragonseal Jewel 3
  • Mighty Bow Jewel 2
  • Mind’s Eye Jewel 2

PC / Steam – Street Fighter V Collaboration Quests

Here come new challengers! Ryu and Sakura make their way into the Steam version of Monster Hunter: World as Full Armor Sets and Layered Armor, part of special limited time Challenge Quests (special quests that take place in the Arena and offer you preset equipment choices). Fight hard and come out victorious in these quests to craft these fierce Full Armor Sets:

  • “Down the Dark, Muddy Path”
  • “Empress in Full Bloom” (I, II, III)
  • “The Awakened Satsui No Hado” (I, II, III)

And if you’re looking for Layered version of these outfits, you’ll want to complete these two Event Quests as well:

  • “When Blue Dust Surpasses Red Lust”
  • “The Heralds of Destruction Cry”

Street Fighter V Collaboration Challenge Quests will be available from October 1 UTC until November 5 UTC.

Challenge Quest – Empress in Full Bloom

Good luck, and may the Sapphire Star light your way!

Devil May Cry 5 “Bury the Light” Lyrics

Yuri Araujo

You asked for them, so here they are: the lyrics to Vergil’s theme “Bury the Light” in Devil May Cry 5 by Casey Edwards and Victor Borba!

Immortal temptation
Takes over my mind
Condemned
Falling weak on my knees
Summon the strength
Of Mayhem

I am the storm that is approaching
Provoking
Black clouds in isolation
I am reclaimer of my name
Born in flames
I have been blessed
My family crest is a demon of death

Forsakened I am awakened
A phoenix’s ash in dark divine
Descending misery
Destiny chasing time

Inherit the nightmare
Surrounded by fate
Can’t run away
Keep walking the line
Between the light
Led astray

Through vacant halls I won’t surrender
The truth revealed in eyes of ember
We fight through fire and ice forever
Two souls once lost and now they remember

I am the storm that is approaching
Provoking
Black clouds in isolation
I am reclaimer of my name
Born in flames
I have been blessed
My family crest is a demon of death

Forsakened I am awakened
A phoenix’s ash in dark divine
Descending misery
Destiny chasing time
Disappear into the night
Lost shadows left behind
Obsession’s pulling me
Fading I’ve come to take what’s mine

Lurking in the shadows under veil of night
Constellations of blood pirouette
Dancing through the graves of those who stand at my feet
Dreams of the black throne I keep on repeat
A derelict of dark summoned from the ashes
The puppet master congregates all the masses
Pulling strings twisting minds as blades hit
You want this power then come try and take it

Beyond the tree
Fire burns
Secret love
Bloodline yearns
Dark minds embrace
Crimson Joy
Does your dim heart
Heal or Destroy?

Bury the light deep within
Cast aside there’s no coming home
We’re burning chaos in the wind
Drifting in the ocean all alone

Street Fighter V Beginner’s Guide: The Road from Rookie to Master!

Sep 25, 2020
Sep 25
Dan

Welcome new challengers! Have you heard? Street Fighter V is one of the FREE PlayStation Plus games for the month of September! If you haven’t done so yet, download the game now and add it to your library! For those of you who are new to SFV, I’m here to provide some helpful tips and resources to getting started and into fighting shape.

Getting Started in Street Fighter V

In the Street Fighter V base game, you’ll start with 16 unique characters at the start. After the intro tutorial, it’s time to find one (or more!) that fits your style. Let’s start by picking anyone that looks to fit your playstyle preferences; check out their attribute stats for a quick summary.

Each character comes with two V-Skills and two V-Triggers to choose from. V-Skills act as a unique ability that only that character can utilize. Using these V-Skills can help build your V-Gauge, which will allow characters to unleash their V-Triggers. Each V-Trigger acts like a comeback mechanic that gives power boosts, mobility, or special attacks that can be used as long as there is meter left.

Once you’ve chosen your fighter, hit the training room to learn the ins and outs of your character. I recommend checking out the Command List in training mode and seeing the variety of moves available.

Struggling to find a character that works for you? Check out our Character Guides and Character Introduction series as well as the V-Trigger II showcase for a deeper look into all the characters in SFV.

* Note: Some combos or move properties in Character Guides and Introduction Series may be different from the latest balance update version of the game.

Don’t be afraid to revisit your choice later on, or come back to learn a new character. After you’ve chosen a character and gotten some playing time with them, you can also try out the Combo Trials to learn some practical combos for your character!

Once you have a character you like, try out the variety of single player modes available:

  • Arcade Mode: Experience Street Fighter’s arcade origins with 1-on-1 battles vs. CPU- controlled characters, themed after previous games in the series.
  • Story: Face off against CPU controlled characters, while learning the backstory of the cast of SFV.
  • Survival: Survive against a gauntlet of CPU opponents that increase in difficulty with each match.
  • Combo Trials: Learn beginner to advanced combos for your character of choice!  *Note: Some combos or move properties in Trials and Demonstrations may be different from the latest balance update version of the game.

If you feel you’re ready for some live competition, check out the local Versus mode or the various online modes like Casual and Ranked matches:

  • Versus: Player vs. Player offline couch competition!
  • Casual Matches: Player vs. Player online matches, with no stakes. Rule the ring and have fun!
  • The Battle Lounge: Create or join lobbies for up to 8 players at a time.
  • Ranked Matches: Get ready for some serious competition and face off against opponents for League Points. The more points you gain, the higher your rank increases!

We also have other resources for you, if you’re just starting in SFV.

“Word on the Street” Tutorial Series

For a more in-depth guide, check out our tutorial series called “Word on the Street.” This 5-episode video series will provide you with tips and tricks to learning more strategies with Street Fighter V. You’ll start with the basics of Normal Attacks, Blocking, and Special Moves. As you start becoming more experienced, you’ll surely be craving more intricate gameplay strategies. Dive deeper into this series and learn the fighting game lingo and terminology, as well as major mechanics such as the V-System, Crush Counters, and Recoveries.

For a limited time, every week we’ll unlock different “Seasons” of six characters for you to try out… for FREE! We started with unlocking Season 1’s characters. Two brand new Monster Hunter games coming to Nintendo Switch in 2021

Sep 17, 2020
Sep 17
Yuri Araujo

Today, at the Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase September 2020, we had the honor of partnering up with Nintendo to announce two brand new Monster Hunter games coming to Nintendo Switch: Monster Hunter Rise coming March 26, 2021 and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin coming Summer 2021. Both of these games take place within the world of Monster Hunter and set out to offer you fresh gameplay and story experiences. Keep on reading to learn more.

Before we dive a bit deeper into what makes these games special, have you watched their trailers yet? You should; they’re pretty awesome!

Alright, now let’s talk Monster Hunter Rise.

Story and Setting

Monster Hunter Rise will put you in the shoes of a resident of the colorful Kamura Village, a serene hub that attracts visitors with its unique culture and technology. The surrounding areas (which, by the way, will be open maps without loading screens between zones) are home to a variety of exceptional monsters too. Naturally, these creatures match the themes of their habitats and will present new challenges to all hunters. Today, we revealed a few denizens of the Shrine Ruins: the menacing flagship monster Magnamalo, the graceful Aknosom, the heavy hitter Tetranadon and the Izuchi pack leader Great Izuchi. But rest assured, Monster Hunter Rise will feature a plethora of new and returning monsters. Your quest in Monster Hunter Rise starts with the discovery of evidence pointing to the impending return of a cataclysmic event known as the “Rampage.” Sharpen your hunting skills and upgrade your weapons to take this threat head on and save Kamura Village!

Dynamic Gameplay

With every Monster Hunter game, our team sets out to improve the gameplay systems and offer fresh takes on the hunting experience. This time, the focus is on dialing up the pacing of the hunt with more options for mobility.

  • Wirebug – this new addition to your hunting toolkit is a trusty form of Endemic Life that inhabits the areas neighboring Kamura Village. At virtually any moment, you can send your Wirebug a short distance away from you and zip straight to it or swing from it to quickly dash around, become airborne, wall-run up cliffs or to get out of harm’s way. And in some cases, you can even weave it into some weapon attacks!
  • Palamute – we’re all wagging our tails in excitement to welcome a brand new companion to the world of Monster Hunter… the Canyne Palamute! This trusty new pal will be joining the current hunting party formation (Hunter & Palico), bringing its own set of combat abilities and rounding out the team with an extra boost to mobility. Yep, you can ride your Palamute into battle, traversing the open areas faster than ever before!

The Monster Hunter Rise release date has been set for March 26, 2021, but you can already secure your copy starting today. Head over to the official website to find out more, including details on our pre-order bonuses, in addition Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition. We can’t wait to share more info on this game, so stay tuned!

Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin

Monster Hunter Stories fans, rejoice! This is the sequel you’ve been waiting for. Once more, you’ll be able to play as a Rider, with the ability to form special bonds with monsters, raising and training them to battle alongside you. Wings of Ruin will take you on an unforgettable adventure centered around a mysterious phenomenon causing Rathalos to migrate unexpectedly… and that’s all we can say for now.

We’re still a bit far from release, so if you haven’t played the first game, now is a great chance to pick up Monster Hunter Stories (available on Nintendo 3DS, Android and iOS), and catch up on its charming world and story.

That’s about all the news we have for today. If you’re itching to see more Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, check out Monster Hunter Direct – 9.17.2020 for some additional insight on these games from Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and Monster Hunter Rise director Yasunori Ichinose:

Time to get motivated! Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition launches digitally Day 1 on Next-Gen Systems

Slice open the gates to the next generation of gaming in SSStyle with Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition, featuring the highly-anticipated return of Vergil in playable form, Turbo Mode, Legendary Dark Knight and some special next-gen powered treats. Keep on reading to learn all about this ultimate version of 2019’s Action Game of the Year.

Vergil, the Dark Slayer

You’ve been asking for this, and while it wasn’t in the cards when we set out to launch Devil May Cry 5, as soon as development conversations started for DMC5 Special Edition, we knew it had to feature playable Vergil. And here he is.

I’m sure you’ll notice all sorts of neat tricks and additions to Vergil’s moveset from the trailer. I won’t spoil all the details today, but personally, I find all those clips very motivating

Quick side note: we’ll also be offering Vergil as paid DLC for Xbox One, PS4 and PC owners of DMC5. More details on that soon.

Special Edition Staples

Say, hypothetically, that playing as Vergil is not enough for you… to that I say “Foolishness!” but also “Fret not, we got you covered.” DMC5 Special Edition will also mark the return of beloved game modes Turbo Mode (20% gameplay speed increase!) and Legendary Dark Knight (copious amounts of enemies coming at you at once!). We’ll have more info on these very soon, so stay tuned.

Power of Next-Gen

In addition to Turbo Mode and Legendary Dark Knight, our team also took a look under the hood of the upcoming Next-Gen hardware to see what else they could squeeze into this game. DMC5 was already a really stylish-looking game, with its own take on photorealistic graphics thanks to the RE Engine. So with the jump to Next-Gen, the question came up as to how we could make it look better. The answer… was Ray Tracing! Instead of me trying to explain this, how about we see it in action? DMC5 Producer Matt Walker will be your guide in our Ray Tracing Overview Video and in this in-depth entry on the PlayStation Blog.

Ray Tracing OFF
Ray Tracing ON

Of course, we also have a couple of additional enhancements, albeit less flashy, such as increased framerates and reduced loading times. We’re hoping these will smooth out the experience even more for you.

As a quick recap: Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition will be launching digitally Day 1 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / Xbox Series S. We’re also working on a physical version, launching at a later date, and will be offering Vergil as paid DLC for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.

Keep your eyes on the Devil May Cry channels on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and the Capcom Discord Server, and stay motivated!

New Resident Evil Village trailer showcases Ethan’s struggle for survival

Sep 16, 2020

Kellen Haney

Making its debut at PlayStation 5 Showcase, a new trailer for Resident Evil Village has been released! Hit the jump to see what’s in store for Ethan as he explores a snow-covered village nestled among ice-capped mountains.

Prior to the events of Resident Evil Village, Ethan Winters received a mysterious email from Mia, his wife, who had been missing for a few years. Without the slightest hint of hesitation, Ethan made his way to Dulvey, Louisiana to search for Mia’s whereabouts… and was led straight to the mansion of the twisted Baker family as a result. Resident Evil 7 biohazard set the stage for a new generation of survival horror as seen directly through Ethan’s eyes, making the struggle for survival through a house of nightmares that much more personal. While Ethan and Mia were ultimately able to escape and create a new, peaceful life together, a new tragedy is about to unfold… one that will take a distraught Ethan to a mystifying village in search of answers to painful questions.

While the village itself may look pristine from all the freshly fallen snow, disturbing events are happening just out of sight. Flickering movements catch the corners of Ethan’s eyes, while strange shapes loom on the horizon. It’s among the dilapidated sheds and houses that he may find his answers… or he may find something far more sinister. Strange creatures, odd symbols, and an unusual fairy tale all come together with the power of the RE Engine in the latest trailer to make Resident Evil Village a true showcase of next-generation survival horror.

We’ll leave it to all of you to decipher some of the finer points of what we’ve shared so far, and invite you to check out our announcement blog for more details on the upcoming game. Resident Evil Village is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.

Want to experience the events of Resident Evil 7 biohazard to get ready for Village? RE7 is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, with special franchise sales happening now (check the page for specific end dates). You can also take a trip to the Baker mansion via PlayStation Now and Xbox Game Pass, so now’s a great time to see what you’ve been missing in the lead-up to Resident Evil Village.

“Welcome to the family, son.”

This simple greeting – coupled with a knock-out punch from the patriarch of the Baker family – was many people’s first introduction to the world of Resident Evil 7 biohazard. With the survival horror masterpiece available now on Xbox Game Pass worldwide and PlayStation Now where available, it’s the perfect time to take a trip to Dulvey, Louisiana to experience the events that take place before Resident Evil Village, the upcoming eighth main entry in the storied franchise coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.

View events through Ethan’s eyes from start to finish as he survives a house of horrors in search of his wife who mysteriously disappeared several years earlier. Face off against the twisted Baker family as you seek a way out. Fight your way through grotesque creatures as you try to survive long enough to see daybreak once again. Experience the survival horror masterpiece that takes Resident Evil back to the basics that define survival horror.

If you’ve got Xbox Game Pass, it’s easy to begin your journey to the Baker estate. All you have to do is navigate to the Game Pass app, then look for Resident Evil 7 biohazard on the list. That’s it! It’s way easier than escaping the Baker’s mansion.

For those of you who have PlayStation Now, surprise! It’s just as quick and painless – though your encounters with the Bakers will be anything but. Open the PlayStation Now app and find Resident Evil 7 biohazard, then start playing.

Good luck – you’re gonna need it if you want to survive the Baker’s house of horrors. If you see the Sewer Gators out there, tell them we’re looking for them. The upcoming Resident Evil Village will also be featured at TGS 2020, so stay tuned to Resident Evil social channels for all the latest, too.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne – Developer Diary: The Final Stand introduces the Legendary Black Dragon Fatalis and much more

Hunters, your attention! The Legendary Black Dragon Fatalis is headed to Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, arriving September 30 at 5pm PDT (October 1st UTC). This history-defining hunt is just over a month away, so here’s our latest Developer Diary with the full scoop on all the upcoming Iceborne content.

As producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said in the Developer Diary, this will be our last free Title Update, and I hope you can agree Fatalis is a fitting choice to close out the MH:World & Iceborne saga.

Personally, I have fond memories of loading up on Heavy Bowgun ammo and being completely terrified of Fatalis in the original Monster Hunter… then eventually hunting it again in Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate with all the new mobility options, but still being utterly shocked in fear! Can’t wait to see how this new iteration will affect my heart rate.

And since we’re getting a bit nostalgic here… let me just express our (my and the MH team’s) deep gratitude to all of you who joined us for this journey filled with new ideas and unprecedented events.

Monster Hunter: World was the first game in the series to be released simultaneously worldwide, making substantial changes to the game while staying true to its roots. It was a remarkable feat, and I am very impressed that the team in Japan was able to make it happen. Iceborne was also a first of its kind, trading the traditional formula of the “G” / “Ultimate” versions for an expansion model that allowed players of both games to play with each other. And to top it all off, both games kept the good times rolling with lots of free post-launch content.

All that is to say, I’m really thankful that you came along with us, taking these bold and scary steps into an uncharted world. We wouldn’t be where we are today without you. So once again…

Thank you for playing!

See you on the hunt!
