Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is available now for Nintendo Switch!

It’s time to CHALLENGE AGAIN! Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is available now on Nintendo Switch! The legendary knight Arthur returns with a legendary series of games known for their challenging and rewarding gameplay.

Over 35 years ago, the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins made its debut in arcades, and few players knew what would await them when they dropped that first quarter or token into the machine. The game’s haunting music box melodies, vivid graphics, expressive animations, and incredibly challenging gameplay quickly cemented it in the minds of many as an instant classic. Anyone skilled enough to beat the game at their local arcade was worthy of praise, a living legend in their own right. Defeating the game once, however, revealed a shocking surprise: A message reading “This room is an illusion and is a trap devised by Satan. Go ahead dauntlessly! Make rapid progress!” To see the game’s true ending, you’d need to play through an even more difficult version of the game, typically called a second loop, to finally rescue the princess from the malevolent Demon Realm.

Staying true to those arcade roots while building on the series’ legacy, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection takes a page (or, perhaps, a scroll) from both the original Ghosts ‘n Goblins and its sequel, Ghouls ‘n Ghosts. Seasoned knights will feel right at home among the dark forests and burning hamlets, picking up familiar weapons, like the lance and dagger, and new armaments, including the spiked ball and hammer, to fight their way through hordes of enemies on their quest to save the princess. With the whole game presented in a visual style reminiscent of paper puppets on a picture-book background, Resurrection provides a perfect mix of challenging old-school gameplay and fun, modern visuals.

While Ghosts ‘n Goblins games are well-known for their challenging gameplay, multiple difficulty modes are available for players of all skill levels to enjoy Arthur’s adventure. Knight mode, the game’s standard difficulty, offers a level of challenge that’s just right for both returning players and newcomers who aren’t afraid to taste defeat as they reach for glory. While Arthur will still face down hordes of enemies on his quest, he’s able to take three hits before going down for the count. In addition, optional Banners of Rebirth are available in each stage, allowing you to choose if you want to restart in between checkpoints.

Looking for the greatest challenge Resurrection has to offer? Crank up the heat to Legend difficulty! On this difficulty mode, Arthur can only take to two hits before he’s reduced to a pile of bones, just as he has in other classic Ghosts ‘n Goblins games. Banners of Rebirth are also removed, leaving only regular checkpoints in each level. You’ll need every ounce of your skill – and maybe a little luck – to see each stage through to the end. Hardcore GnG fans take heart – THIS is the Ghosts ‘n Goblins you remember!

If you’re looking for a more relaxed playthrough, the Squire difficulty mode is the perfect choice for a more gentle experience. Alongside being able to take four hits and the Banners of Rebirth in each stage, fewer enemies will appear compared to Knight mode, giving you more breathing room to discover each stage’s twists and turns as you venture into the Demon Realm.

For players looking for a casual experience, and those looking to introduce newly christened knights to what Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection has to offer, an additional Page mode gives Arthur a blessing of eternal life. If he falls in battle, he’ll be resurrected on the spot, able to jump back into his quest right where he left off.

No matter what difficulty mode you choose, Arthur is anything but defenseless. Alongside an assortment of weapons and his trusty armor, Arthur will also have access to a variety of skills and magic that can turn the tables on his foes. As you explore each stage, you’ll come across what first appear to be little balls of rainbow light bouncing around. These are Umbral Bees, friendly little critters that you can collect and return to the Umbral Tree. The Umbral Tree, as its name might suggest, is literally a skill tree. Returning Umbral Bees to the Umbral Tree unlocks new and more powerful skills and magic that can be assigned to Arthur’s Magic Waistband.

Surrounded by zombies? Cast Thunderstorm to call down lightning! Need to bowl over some skeleton murderers? Emboulden turns Arthur into an impervious rolling rock. There’s lots of magic to uncover, including turning enemies to stone, creating a doppelganger that copies your attacks, and a few secret bits of magic we won’t spoil, but are sure to delight long-time fans. A variety of skills are also available, including the ability to increase the number of weapons that Arthur can hold at one time! Be sure to collect those Umbral Bees when you see them, as they’ll certainly be a huge help on your journey.

Offering a different gameplay experience from Arthur’s solo adventures, couch co-op is available for two players to enjoy the game together. Barry, Kerry, and Archie, the Three Wise Guys, can assist Arthur by creating a temporary barrier, carrying Arthur out of danger, or creating temporary bridges and platforms for Arthur to cross. It’s a great option for seasoned veterans and little knights to play together, and for family and friends who want to try a new, different way to play Ghosts ‘n Goblins.

Take note that you’ll need to complete the game once on Squire, Knight, or Legend to unlock sinister new remixes of places you’ve been before. Calling back to the series’ tradition of playing through the game multiple times to see more of what the game has to offer, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection introduces a new spin on that concept: Shadow Stages. Each stage you’ve previously completed has a remixed, shadowy version, with different enemies, gimmicks, and hazards that create a new experience. No matter how familiar you are with the original stages, you’ll need to adjust your game plan if you hope to conquer each Shadow Stage.

There’s lots more to discover on your own, too. Hidden treasure chests dot each stage, mysterious pits called Hell Holes filled with enemies and rewards can appear if the right conditions are met, and there are other secrets that await those who are up for the challenge. Monster Hunter Rise Interview with Director Yasunori Ichinose

Hello everyone! Shibata here, reporting from the Monster Hunter Rise dev floor!

For our second round of Monster Hunter Rise interviews, I’ll be talking to the Director, Yasunori Ichinose!

I’ve been a fan of this series since I was still in school, so just getting to meet him is kind of a big deal for me! Enjoy!

Shibata: I’m sure you got a lot of fan feedback after Monster Hunter Rise was announced. Was there anything in particular that caught your attention?

Yasunori Ichinose: I was happy to see the response to the Palamutes was extremely positive, not just in Japan, but overseas as well. A lot of people asked to what extent you can customize your trusty Canyne.

We already revealed this information, but in case you missed it: you can change the shape of their ears and tail, and the color of their coat. We hope you create your own unique Palamute and treat it with as much affection as you would your Palicoes!

I’ve been using my own customized Palamute for checking the game, and it’s grown on me a lot.

I’m playing with a yellow Palamute and a green Palico. I love hot dogs, so I colored them after my favorite condiments: mustard and pickle relish!

We received a lot of reactions to the Buddies, but the monsters were very popular as well.

We introduced 4 new monsters (and a few others): Magnamalo, Aknosom, Tetranadon, and Great Izuchi. We only showed their names and what they look like, but people came up with lots of speculation for each creature and it’s all been really interesting to read.

I’ve seen a lot of fan art on social media as well, which makes all of us working on the game very happy. Thank you, everyone!

This game has a very Japanese/Asian-flavored setting, so initially I was a bit worried what kind of response that would elicit, but people reacted very positively to this as well, so we’re all very satisfied.

We want to create something new while maintaining the core Monster Hunter experience, so we hope you look forward to future information.

S: In Multiplayer, each hunter will be able to bring along 1 Buddy, for a total of 4 hunters and 4 Buddies. This means you’ll be able to take on monsters with a group of 8 characters at maximum, but will monsters actually attack all hunters and all Buddies?

YI: Yes, everyone’s a target.

Buddies will be attacked as well, but not quite as often as hunters.

S: Does the difficulty of the quests get adjusted to the number of players in Multiplayer?

YI: Yes, it does. We’ve looked at past titles for reference and tweaked the settings to fit this game the best.

S: Can you explore the locales without objectives or a time limit?

YI: Outside of the regular quests, we have some quests that allow you play without a time limit as well, so if you want to focus on exploration and gathering materials instead of hunting, you can do that to your heart’s content.

S: Thank you. I still have plenty of other questions, but I think we have to call it a day for now!

Mr. Ichinose mentioned the response we received to the Palamutes, but I remember being very excited when I first saw these cute doggos myself. I’m sure people will spend several hours just on the character editor alone, haha.

Dan Hibiki is back and brings bonus Eleven, V-Shift and new balance changes with him!

Hey there Fighters! Hot off the heels of the SFV Winter Update and the Capcom Pro Tour Season Final, Dan Hibiki makes his long anticipated return. Additionally, a free update to all SFV players includes the new V-Shift mechanic and a complete rebalancing of the entire cast!

But first, onto the Master of Saikyo! Although I’ve gone over Dan before, I’ll do a brief recap on some of Dan’s new moves as well as his V-Triggers and V-Skills. Before I do though, take a look at his gameplay trailer below!

Dan returns with some major improvements!

Dan comes to SFV with all of his classic moves in tow, along with some new ones! In addition to his classic Gadoken fireball and Koryuken uppercut, Dan also brings back his famous Dankukyaku kicks! New to Dan is the “Danretsuken,” a move Dan had gained in Omega mode of Ultra Street Fighter IV. This move is a multi-hitting attack that has Dan launching a flurry of punches to his opponent. The EX version will launch your opponent, allowing you to add more damage and follow up moves!

EX Danretsuken gives opportunity for longer combos!

Dan’s V-Reversal is the “Saikyo-style Kaihi Jutsu.” This has him rolling through his opponents to get him out of trouble.

New to Dan, as well as the entire SFV cast, is the V-Shift system. Each character has a unique animation for their V-Shift break attacks. Dan’s is called the “Saikyo Donukigeri,” and has Dan executing a well-placed kick, pushing his opponents away.

Taunt your way to victory!

As expected with a character like Dan Hibiki, his patented taunts are the center of his gameplay style! Both of his V-Skills involve utilizing his taunts to gain an edge over his opponents, allowing him to cancel moves and extend his combos.

V-Skill I, “Saikyo-Style Burairuten No Kamae,” is a multipurpose taunt that can be cancelled out of his special moves. It opens different combo routes and can make certain specials safe on block.

V-Skill 2, “Saikyo-Style Otokoboe,” is a standing taunt that’s very punishable on block, but can be used to cancel out of Dan’s normal attacks before quickly cancelling itself into a special or another normal. This taunt has a ton of frame trap potential.

Don’t forget though, that both of Dan’s V-Skills will not only build his own V-Gauge, but his opponents as well! This will lead to some frantic fights with lots of utilization of V-System mechanics!

V-Trigger I is Dan’s patented “Haoh Gadoken,” a giant fireball that can be charged up for a wall bounce or guard crush. This particular V-Trigger is unique in that it is the only one in the game that is only one bar of V-Gauge! Of course with Dan, he always has some unique quirks to his gameplay style, doesn’t he?

V-Skill 2, “Saikyo-Style Otokoboe,” is a standing taunt that’s very punishable on block, but can be used to cancel out of Dan’s normal attacks before quickly cancelling itself into a special or another normal. This taunt has a ton of frame trap potential.

V-Shift shifts the meta, the entire roster gets updates!

Along with Dan, Eleven and the new character balances, the new V-Shift mechanic has been added to Street Fighter V! V-Shift can be executed at nearly any moment in a match by pressing HP + MK at the same time, and will make you fully invincible to attacks, throws, and projectiles for a short time. A successful V-Shift begins a slow-motion effect, allowing you to react to your opponent and punish them! For a full list of gameplay and character changes from the recent update, check out the Shadaloo CRI page for the entire list! It’s quite extensive as every single character has received changes!

Eleven is ready to morph into SFV

As we revealed during the SFV Winter Update, Eleven debuts as a mimic character that will transform itself into any character you own from the SFV roster, including Dan! While Eleven has a unique look, it does not have its own moveset and will randomly choose a character and their V-Skill and V-Trigger. Eleven will retain the selected character and their moves during all rounds of the match. To change the character that Eleven is duplicating, you just need to go back to the Character Select screen and choose Eleven again. Eleven also marks the first time you will be able to “Random Select” a character in Online Ranked Matches!

The Rampage marches onto Monster Hunter Rise

We’ve heard the early reports of the Rampage from Elder Fugen, now we get a new glimpse of what it actually looks like. Gear up and work together to fend off the oncoming onslaught.

Today’s Nintendo Direct 2.17.2021 debuted our Rampage Trailer, featuring a closer look at the Stronghold, Kamura Village’s primary defense systems designed to fend off large numbers of monsters. Barricades will slow them down, and installations will “discourage” their advances, but it’ll be up you to work together and repel monsters.

So, make sure you’re geared up with your best weapons and armor, and give it all you’ve got to protect Kamura!

In your preparations, you’ll need to venture out to dangerous locales in search of the best monster-based equipment to take on the Rampage. The slippery and tough leviathan Almudron has descended upon the Sandy Plains, bringing with it the very peculiar ability to control mud for both offense and defense. Shrouded within the scorching Lava Caverns, the Rakna-Kadaki and its swarming offspring, Rachnoid await you. A single misstep against this monster can get you tied up in a sticky web and roasted alive by its fiery gas attacks.

Protecting Kamura from the Rampage is a great responsibility and challenge, but don’t forget you’ll be equipped with various powerful tools and companions to assist you in this quest: Wirebugs, Palicoes and Palamutes and Wyvern Riding. Dan taunts his way back in SFV to show who’s the strongest! No not me, Dan from the Capcom U.S.A. Community Team… I mean Dan Hibiki! This time around, Dan has been training harder than ever and has become even stronger than before, if that was even possible! Many of you will be surprised to find out how much of an offensive beast Dan has become. So let’s dive right in and learn all about the Master of Saikyo in SFV.

Both of Dan’s V-Skills allow him to cancel any of his moves to perform his signature Taunts. For V-Skill I, “Saikyo-Style Burairuten No Kamae,” this Taunt opens up many combo paths that would not normally be possible and can make many of Dan’s moves safe. With V-Skill II, “Saikyo-Style Otokoboe,” Dan can cancel almost any normal move (except crouching Heavy Kick) into another normal or special move, if properly timed. Watch out, though: these V-Skills will not only build Dan’s V-Gauge, but also the V-Gauge of his opponent! This will lead to some hectic fights as Dan’s new offensive powers also enable those he’s fighting.

When it comes to V-Triggers, Dan comes fully equipped in SFV. Dan’s “Haoh Gadoken” fireball makes a return from Street Fighter IV, and has become Dan’s V-Trigger I in Street Fighter V. This returning move is unique in that it is the only V-Trigger in the game that costs only one bar of V-Gauge, allowing you to use it more often in matches. You can even charge it up, which can lead to a guard crush or a wall bounce!

Dan’s V-Trigger II, “Tenchi Saikyo No Kata,” powers up his “Gadoken” fireball and “Koryuken” uppercut special moves. His fireball will gain more hits, while his uppercut gains complete invincibility. With proper timing, you can add extra hits and damage to each of these moves in combos!

With all of these offensive tools at his disposal, Dan is looking to be full of flair and strength when he’s released on February 22!

Rose’s Return is Foretold in Street Fighter V

I have seen the future, and in it Rose makes her return in Street Fighter V! This includes returning moves as well as brand new moves, so let me consult my crystal ball and show you what Rose has to offer when she releases this spring!

Rose’s “Soul Throw” has been replaced with her new anti-air move called “Soul Bind.” Instead of leaping towards her opponents, Rose now uses her Soul powered scarf to grab airborne opponents. Of course, Rose would not be Rose without her “Soul Spark” projectile. It seems in SFV she’s gained the ability to throw a “Soul Spark” in the air, as well! Each punch button will have her throw it at different angles.

Brand new to Rose’s moveset, “Soul Fortune” (her V-Skill I) allows her to summon tarot cards that will provide different buffs to herself and debuffs to her victims.

You may recognize her tarot cards from her Street Fighter Alpha 3 battle intro where she throws one at M. Bison. Back then, this was only a special intro, but it has now been fully realized in SFV as one of her moves!

As mentioned in the Summer Update in August of last year, the SFV Development team knew how popular “Soul Satellite” was. Thus, the move returns as her V-Skill II in Street Fighter V, allowing her to keep on the offensive.

V-Trigger I is called “Soul Dimension,” a teleportation move that gives Rose new mix-up opportunities, and V-Trigger II is her popular “Soul Illusion” from the Street Fighter Alpha series, in which Rose creates shadow illusions of herself giving her access to potentially long combos that deal heavy damage.

These new attacks and abilities for Rose give you a choice of a more mix-up and combo-heavy approach, or a more defensive “zoning” style of play!

With new zoning and offensive tools as well as her “Soul Power” and tarot cards in hand, my prediction is that Rose will be released this spring!

V-Shift – Defend yourself and shift the tides of battle in your favor!

Need more defensive options? We got you covered with the powerful new V-System mechanic in Street Fighter V, called “V-Shift.” This new defensive mechanic will be available for all players for free, along with the next Battle Balance update, and will help you get out of tough situations at the cost of one bar of V-Gauge. Unlike V-Reversal, V-Shift can be executed at nearly any moment in a match, and will make you fully invincible to attacks, throws, and projectiles for a short time. A successful V-Shift triggers a slow-motion effect, allowing you to react to your opponent and punish them! But be careful: if you use it openly with no attacks coming at you, you’ll lose a full bar of V-Gauge.

V-Shift will give you more defensive options.

You can also follow V-Shift up with an attack called a “V-Shift Break.” This will cause your character to do a forward moving attack. If the attack connects, it can knock your opponent down.

V-Shift adds one more way to utilize your V-Gauge in a match. Now with V-Shift, V-Reversal, and V-Trigger, that makes a total of three different uses for your V-Gauge! We can’t wait to see the intensity this will bring to matches in SFV!

BONUS Season 5 Pass Content: Eleven drops in to SFV

Didn’t expect this reveal, did you? Arriving along with Dan on February 22, Eleven will be released as a FREE bonus with a purchase of the Season 5 pass! As long time fans and SF lore experts may have surmised, Eleven is a prototype version of Street Fighter III’s Twelve. Eleven, who is able to shape-shift into other life-forms, was created by Gill’s secret organization.

You might have noticed Eleven also made an appearance in Urien’s Story mode as a duplicate version of Urien.

Much like Eleven’s appearance in Urien’s Story, Eleven acts as a mimic of sorts, and will transform itself into any character that you currently own in SFV. In addition, a random V-Skill and V-Trigger will also be selected for you.

The randomly selected character will retain Eleven’s color scheme, while still performing exactly like the character being duplicated! You’ll also notice that the characters sound a bit different as well – another interesting little side effect of Eleven’s mimicry.

We hope you enjoy the extra bit of excitement that comes with playing as Eleven in SFV! Eleven will be released as a FREE bonus if you purchase one of the Street Fighter V Season 5 Passes (more details further below)!

New FREE Stage: The Grid Alternative

Wait a second… did you notice anything different about the training stage in the V-Shift screenshots? This new training stage is called “The Grid Alternative” and will be FREE for all players with the Season 5 update on February 22nd! Now you can train even harder a darker shade of blue that’s easier on the eyes!

New Battle Balance for the Entire Roster!

Also arriving on February 22 is the new Battle Balance update! This extensive list of changes to previous characters will be available to all players for free! The update will take into account the new V-Shift mechanic, as well as the inclusion of Dan. We’ll have more detailed info to share on the Battle Balance update once Season 5 begins, so stay tuned for more info coming soon!

Capcom Pro Tour 2020 Season Final Begins February 20th

Announced during the Winter Update, we’re pleased to confirm that the Capcom Pro Tour 2020 Season Final is happening February 20th – 21st! The event will consist of a series of prize fights among the 20 qualifiers for Capcom Cup 2020 as well as four invitees. The matches will be region based and will include many heavy hitting pros! Be sure to stay tuned to the Capcom Fighters Twitter, Facebook and Twitch for updates on how to catch all the high-paced action!

Steve Aoki x Street Fighter Collaboration!

Are you ready for some bangers? Revealed during the Winter Update is the collaboration between Steve Aoki and Street Fighter! Steve showed us a preview of the Dim Mak x Street Fighter shirts and hoodies coming out soon. Check them out below!

Monster Hunter Rise Interview with Producer Ryozo Tsujimoto

Hello! This is Shibata, reporting to you from the Monster Hunter Rise dev floor!

For this special series, I will be interviewing the developers of the recently announced Monster Hunter Rise. I’m sure they have lots of stories to tell about all of the cool things they put into the game!

To kick off this auspicious occasion, let’s start with Ryozo Tsujimoto, producer on the Monster Hunter series!

Shibata: Alright, let’s get right down to business! What are the main themes and characteristic of this game?

Ryozo Tsujimoto: The theme is “a Monster Hunter that you can play anytime, anywhere, with anyone you want,” and we wanted to make a Monster Hunter that would feel good on a portable console as well.

One of the main characteristics is the fun of traversal, be it by using the Wirebug to climb and fly all over the map, or by riding a Canyne to run across the fields at high speed.

S: It’s great that you can just pick up and play this game. You can just lie around on your sofa and decide to do a quest or two!

I’m sure you must’ve spent a lot of time playing the game already. What would you say is the thing that impressed you the most?

RT: How good it feels just to move around.

You can really go to a lot of places on the map, and just climbing up cliffs feels like a fresh and fun new experience. You can climb on top of a mountain and then look down all the way below, where you can see monsters roaming around. Just figuring out how to climb a big cliff face in front of you can be a lot of fun!

S: And then you can actually go there!

RT: That’s right. If you can see it within the boundaries of the map, you can probably go there.

S: Apparently, there’s a fair amount of people who think the Wirebug actions look complicated?

RT: It’s a completely new feature, so it’ll take some time to get used to, but you don’t need to whisk around the map right from the start, and we made sure the game is fun enough without using the Wirebug.

S: Yeah, you can get by just fine with the classic play style.

RT: You can run around the field riding your Palamute without consuming stamina, and you can even climb vines like this, so you can reach some pretty high places with little effort. It feels really good! I hope everyone tries using their Canyne to get around as well.

S: The Wirebug can be used to attack monsters as well, so does that mean the player won’t be expected to fully comprehend that immediately either?

RT: That’s right. If you manage to incorporate your Wirebug into your combos, your repertoire of moves will expand significantly, but what that means is that you’ll just have even more choice on top of the already rich amount of strategy you normally have.

S: Each weapon type has its own attacks using the Wirebug (Silkbind Attacks), so we’d like players to experiment, and a good place to start would probably be the Wirefall, don’t you think?

RT: Indeed! The Wirefall can be a lifesaver when used effectively, so it comes highly recommended.

S: At TGS last year, you gave the world its first look at live gameplay, and it was quite interesting to hear hunters talk during quests now!

RT: Yeah, we received a lot of positive feedback on that. At TGS, the player characters only spoke Japanese, but you can also change this to English or Monster Hunter Language.

You can even adjust the frequency of the voices, or turn them off altogether.

Closing remarks from me:

Wirebugs and Canynes; there’s a lot of new features to be excited about, but it’s good to know that you won’t need to master them right away.

I’m sure a lot of people will be happy to know that they can adjust the voice settings to their liking as well.

Are you prepared to CHALLENGE AGAIN? You won’t have to wait long to take up your Lance and charge into the Demon Realm as Arthur on his latest rescue mission – Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection launches digitally on Nintendo Switch on February 25th! Hit the jump for all the latest on the legendary knight’s next adventure, including a new trailer complete with a few spooky surprises that are sure to delight long-time GnG fans.

Difficulties ‘n Dangers
There are a few things we can all agree on, no matter where we come from. The sky is blue, water is wet, and Ghosts ‘n Goblins games can be incredibly difficult. The original arcade game was known for being a “quarter-eater” back when it first released, and when the game was later brought to home consoles in the 8-bit era, it retained many of the sharp edges that made the original so darn difficult.

Fortunately, Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection offers multiple difficulties for those who want to experience all the game has to offer! If you’re a returning player who doesn’t mind seeing Arthur reduced to a pile of bones over and over again in your quest for glory, the Legend difficulty mode is right up your alley. Offering the most challenging Ghosts ‘n Goblins experience, this difficulty throws down the gauntlet with a large number of enemies and tough encounters that will put your skills (and single layer of armor) to the test!

Turning down the heat with the Knight difficulty mode will give Arthur an extra hit point of armor, allowing him to retain some of his armor pieces and his pride before he’s fully reduced to his boxers, while the Squire difficulty mode provides a bit more breathing room by reducing the number of enemies as well. For little knights, those just learning how to play, those looking for a more relaxed experience, and for players of any type, Page mode provides Arthur with a blessing of eternal life, allowing the gallant knight to resurrect right on the spot should he fall in battle.

For those of you who forge your way through the entire game on the Legend, Knight, or Squire difficulty modes, a brand-new challenge awaits….

Shapes ‘n Shadows
A Ghosts ‘n Goblins game isn’t complete without a second loop, and Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection is no exception to that rule. You may have seen it showcased in the trailer above, but every stage will have a “Shadow” version – a dark and sinister side to a zone you’ve conquered before. We don’t want to spoil the fun of discovering what these stages have to offer, but there’s far more to the shadows than a simple revisit. It will take all of your skills to survive each one, and promises to be the ultimate challenge for even the most seasoned knights!

Weapons ‘n… Warlocks?
Okay, okay, Arthur isn’t a warlock, that one was a bit of a stretch. However, you’ll have access to a wide variety of classic and new weapons that are sure to delight players of all styles. Arthur’s standard Lance returns, offering a good mix of range and power, while the Crossbow fires in a spread pattern, allowing you to target enemies that are just a bit above or below you. Spreading on contact with the ground, the Holy Water makes a return—wait, where are you going? Come back, the quick-flying Dagger is here, too! There are also some new weapons ready to mix things up – my personal favorite is getting up close and personal with the Hammer, a powerful short-range weapon that’s sure to re-bury any undead that pop out, while the new Spiked Ball rolls along the ground, crushing anything unfortunate enough to be caught in its path.

Magic also makes a return, of course! Rather than being tied to Arthur’s armor or the specific weapon he’s wielding, magic can be cast when it’s equipped to his aptly named Magic Waistband. You may remember Thunderstorm, which calls thunderbolts and lightning (very, very frightening), but it’s now joined by many other types of magic, including its earthy cousin, Emboulden. Unsurprisingly, this magic turns Arthur into a boulder. Rolling around at the speed of… a large rock… has its perks, causing Arthur to bowl over enemies – though you may have some trouble with platforming until you transform back. You can also turn enemies to stone, making them useful, if temporary, platforms, or even turn nearby foes into mostly harmless frogs with Transmogrifrog. It’s better when your adversaries croak but Arthur doesn’t, right?

Time ‘n Time Again
Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection will put all your skills to the test, and there are still a few more surprises in store. We hinted at one of those surprises at the end of the trailer above, too. Make no mistake, the game is running just as intended, but time can have a way of moving strangely in the world of Ghosts ‘n Goblins Resurrection. Keep an eye on the Capcom USA Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram – we’ll have more to share soon, including developer videos that shed a bit more light on how this resurrection of a classic series came to be.

Resident Evil Village launches May 7th! Everything you need to know from the Resident Evil Showcase

That’s a wrap for the Resident Evil Showcase, but we’ve got a recap here just for you! Regardless of if you missed the event or just need a quick place to see everything that was shown off, we’ve got you covered with the release date of Resident Evil Village, info on the PlayStation 5 demo called Maiden, and more!

Additional Platforms and Release Date
In case you missed it, we confirmed that Resident Evil Village will be coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam, as well as PlayStation 4 with a free digital upgrade to PS5 in North America and Xbox One with Smart Delivery! That’s not all, of course, as we also announced the launch date for the game on all platforms worldwide: May 7th, 2021!

In addition, a Deluxe version of the game is available that includes multiple bonus items, including a Samurai Edge weapon, an option to replace the save room music and the typewriters you save on with the music and tape recorder from Resident Evil 7 biohazard, and other bonuses. Those looking for the ultimate conversation starter can grab the Collector’s Edition from select retailers, which offers everything in the Deluxe Edition plus a Chris Redfield statue, poster, art book, and SteelBook case in a special Collector’s Edition box. With the game just a few months away, you’ll want to secure your copy before it’s too late!

New Trailer, New Faces, New Gameplay
With a new trailer kicking off the stream, we put the spotlight on a mysterious castle and its residents, particularly everyone’s favorite new character, the tall lady who’s captivated everyone’s hearts as of late. We’re happy to put a name to the face: Lady Dimitrescu, who appears alongside her three daughters. We won’t spoil what role this quartet plays in the story, but we can tell you that you’ll see them throughout Dimitrescu Castle. That should give you a strong idea of the relationship between these women and the castle they reside in.

That’s not the only new character we showcased, though. You may remember a certain side-shot of a man shrouded in darkness from the previous trailer. We’re finally able to shed some light on who he is: A rather large merchant that is only known as “the Duke.” You’ll be able to purchase weapons, items, and perhaps even customize your arsenal with his help – but remember, everything comes at a price, which is something the Duke is all too fond of reminding you of. There was one other character who got a moment to shine in the latest trailer, but we’ll let you speculate on who he is for now. He doesn’t seem particularly fond of Ethan, that much is for sure.

We also showcased world premiere gameplay and a first look at combat! You’ll be facing a wide variety of foes, which will require different approaches if you want to fight back effectively. You’ll also have new ways to engage with enemies by kicking them away to create some space to escape or fight back. while blocking makes a return from Resident Evil 7 biohazard. We’ll let the gameplay that you see in the Showcase speak for itself.

PlayStation 5 Demo
Of course, we also had major news for PlayStation 5 owners – a new demo, called Maiden, will be available starting today. [Update: The demo is now live!] Rather than offer a slice of the full game, Maiden will instead function as a sort of short side story that takes place in the same world as Resident Evil Village, but at a different time than the main story. Instead of playing as Ethan Winters, you’ll be playing as a woman known only as the “maiden” as she attempts to find her way out of the castle.

Unique from the full game, there’s no combat or even blocking in this demo. Instead, Maiden provides an opportunity to explore a small piece of the detailed world that Resident Evil Village offers.

Resident Evil 25th Anniversary
As part of Resident Evil’s 25th anniversary, we also unveiled a brand-new online multiplayer game, Resident Evil Re:Verse! Featuring fan-favorite characters clashing across familiar locales in the Resident Evil universe, buying Resident Evil Village will also grant you access to this celebration of the franchise’s anniversary, as well. We’ll have more details on the launch date for Resident Evil Re:Verse in the future, but check out the trailer below for a sneak peek at what to expect.

There’s a few things we haven’t covered, including new info on the Resident Evil Infinite Darkness animated series coming to Netflix, as well as a special cross-over event with Tom Clancy’s The Division 2. Monster Hunter Rise Demo and Digital Event – January 2021 Recap

Greetings, Hunters! And Happy 2021!

We’re starting the New Year strong with a bevy of Monster Hunter Rise news, including new monster and feature reveals and the release of a downloadable Demo!

The news was brought to you by the Monster Hunter dev team in Japan via our Monster Hunter Digital Event – January 2021. If you’ve already watched the live stream or VOD, you’re good to go. Otherwise, here’s a quick recap:

Demo – your chance to try out the inventive new gameplay in Monster Hunter Rise is here! Take on two Training Quests and two Hunting Quests to try out all the new gameplay mechanics (Wirebug, Wyvern Riding, Palamutes, etc.) we have in store! More info on the demo here.

Frost Islands – once a nest of huge dragons a long time ago. It is said many heroes went there to try and slay them, to no avail. Similar to the Shrine Ruins and Flooded Forest, you can expect to encounter a wide variety of monsters and endemic life.

Goss Harag – a Fanged Beast capable of creating blades of ice to attack its prey. Its chilling presence should not be taken lightly…

Returning Monsters – along with the new icy region and Goss Harag, we’ve also revealed the return of some fearsome fan-favorite foes: Khezu, Great Baggi, Lagombi, Barioth, Tigrex, and Mizutsune!

Magnamalo – the flagship monster of Monster Hunter Rise shows off some of its tricks, including tail attacks that seem to spew a gas that looks like hellfire!

Wyvern Riding – this brand-new hunting technique uses the Ironsilk from Wirebugs to bind monsters allowing you to control them. Now you can take their immense power and use it to hunt other monsters! Check out a more in-depth overview of this feature in our tutorial video below.

NPC Introductions – meet more of the cast of colorful characters that inhabit Kamura Village and will help you in your journey to fight back against the impending Rampage.
